Isn't he a grad of GU Law? Yes. However, it is not something that he discussed much at all.

As long as Dook must still claim Nixon, I'm not going to worry too much about McGreevey tarnishing my degree by association. Why the Dookies don't have to score 5 points higher on the Multi-state Professional Responsibility Exam than every other law school graduate I'll never understand.

Yes .... and he was the honored guest & speaker at the annual GU Law alumni gathering at Newark Club in January '02, shortly after he was elected. It was kind of interesting to note the contrast between the '00 speaker (attorney general John Farmer) and the '02 speech given by J McG. The former was dealing with the 'racial profiling' issue at the time of his speech and he managed to draw upon sources like classical Greek philosophers, writings by Aquinas, and memorable sayings from some of his Hilltop professors (Farmer was both undergrad & law from GU) in creating a framework to surround the topical subject. Really an awesome speech. (A couple friends I brought to that dinner -- grads of other law schools -- marvelled at the depth of thinking evident from the speech.) Meanwhile, McGreevey's talk sounded like a warmed over campaign speech. There was always something a little "too ambitious" and a little "too shallow" about the guy, imho -- and partisan political leanings (mine) totally aside. Sounds like lots more information is going to come out in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, all I can say is "Run fast, Deke!"

Interesting side note about McGreevey in espn.com today... Seems like the scoreboard operator and pa guy for the Atlantic City Surf AA-ball club were fired for alluding to McGreevey during the (sadly) inevitable playing of the Village People's YMCA... ...and rehired by the club at McGreevey's request. I dunno, but it seems like he's not all bad. espn.go.com/minorlbb/news/2004/0826/1868262.html
