some might argue that kerry was quite the "common man" when he volunteered to dodge bullets in vietnam, while "mr. everyman" bush couldn't find the time to fulfill his service obligations in the cushy guard unit his elite family pulled strings to slide him into. but clearly the menu choice is probably a more important indication of his connection to the average american.

just to clarify, im certainly not suggesting that kerry is an "everyman." but quite obviously, no major party candidate for president ever is. could someone also remind me why people want a "regular guy" for the most important job on the planet anyway? i want someone i respect, even admire, not someone i think it would be cool to have a beer with.

So was it common for everyone who enlisted to have a JFK fetish and bring along his Super-8 camera so he could go back and "recreate" his heroic efforts for future political campaigns?

if you want to point to a reputable source that dignifies that assertion, we can play ball on that one. until then, i'll take the word of people like bill keller, who have actually seen the tapes, and has very different take on their content and purpose than you. but hey, if its on the drudge report, it must be true.
although i have heard that kerry killed vince foster.

There seem to be a lot of people who served in Vietnam with Kerry that weren't on the DNC stage. Of course, they must just be part of a vast right-wing conspiracy.

John Kerry is an agile politician and a relativist. The Wendy's story is supposed to be a humorous example of that. Hopefully, if elected POTUS, Kerry won't continue to say one thing and do another.

kc, i'm not really sure why the absence of unanimous support for kerry amongst his fellow soldiers is significant, or surprising, to you. and i don't recall ever suggesting they were part of a right wing conspiracy.
still waiting on the evidence for your claim re: kerry's nefarious motives for going to vietnam.
