You seriously think its worth noting that the guy fell off a moutain bike on a rigorous ride again? Why? Do you really think this is funny? The guy is the most fit president maybe in history, who gives a damn if he took a spill? I am not offended that you are bringing it up, just curious to see if you think this is truley newsworthy or humourous, because I don't see it either way.
this part of the article doesn't mention anything about training wheels but I thought it was salient.... "He keeps a cramp-inducing pace on long uphill sections, panting hard by the time he reaches each peak, backing off a little to recover and then attacking the next hill. He pants hard, emitting low "hrrr, hrrr, hrrr" grunts with each stroke of the pedals, his shoulders bobbing up and down.
Over an 18-mile ride that lasted an hour and 20 minutes, he burns about 1,200 calories and his heart rate reaches 168 beats per minute. That's about four times his resting rate and in the same range as Lance Armstrong's when the six-time Tour de France winner is pedaling hard."

Humor's in the eye of the beholder. However, I see some traditional elements of humor in Bush's little spill - the irony of a self-styled rugged outdoorsman taking a pratfall from his mountainbike in the middle of his hardcharging workout.
Is it funnier than Man Getting Hit By Football (of Simpson's fame)? Maybe not, but then again, if it were Drudgified....
Season the story a little bit and you might have something a bit funny there. Personally, I'm pretty indifferent to these incidents. However, if it seems like something that would be fit for America's Funniest Home Videos had it been caught on tape, you can bet that at least a few people are tickled by it.

Where's the irony? If the "rugged outdoorsman" had fallen off riding down the street, that might be ironic.

Egads - kchoya has Alannis Morrissetted me!
Yeah, I think it's a bit ironic that the man who professes to love the outdoors and is so concious of preserving his body nevertheless indulges in aggressive mountainbiking as his exercise of choice. What, there's not enough flat land on which to bike in Texas?

Who cares how hard he pedals, how much he grunts, or what his heart rate gets to when he's riding around in front of the American flag on his ranch. He can be Charles Atlas, but that doesn't make him a good President. I'd rather see pictures of him working than working out.....

Yeah, but not nearly as funny as taking a pit stop in McDonald's while jogging and eating other people's food.

he was awesome. the early 90's SNL boasted the best cast and highest quality material of any SNL era, including the supposed late 70's "glory days."

I totally agree. Early years were not quite as good as most people think IMO. I am going to catch hell for this, but I have never thought Belushi was super talented, and have never liked Ackroyd. Chase was great in the 70s- but he was only on SNL for one year. I loved Bill Murray though. Eddie Murphy was a brilliant spot on on otherwise terrible era for SNL. But in the early 90s the cast was LOADED until the Adam Sandler years took over (not a fan at all) until Will Ferrel resurrected SNL.

"Boys, there are going to be a LOT of things we don't tell the First Lady!" (or something like that, can't remember the line word for word) Forget about the current election. With SNL, The Simpsons, News Radio, Quick Change, Pee Wee's Playhouse and everything else, Phil gets my vote for funniest actor in my lifetime.

thebin, have you seen anchorman? i thought it was extremely funny at times, but at other moments there were a lot of missed opportunities. kind of disappointed since i was expecting a homerun from farrell after old school and elf.

I can be a pretty grumpy audience for comedy- but I am not all that critical I admit if Will Ferrell is involved. While Adam Sandler has never once made me laugh, I am quite sure I could be amused watching Ferrell read the NY Times aloud. He just cracks me up. Hartman was like that for me.
I liked Anchorman- was laughing pretty hard in large parts. I could have done with less of the news team- Champ Kind, etc. I thought the cameos were not well done. I expected better things from Vaugn. But I have not laughed that hard in a theatre in years. (I don't see many comedies in theatres though.) I will wait to see it two or three more times before I judge it against Old School, but as a Ferrell tour de force, I MAY like it better. Too soon to tell how well it will wear for me.
