news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/nm/20040720/pl_nm/campaign_bush_dcMonths after telling Tim Russert that he is a "war president," President Bush appealed to Iowans by saying that he wants to be a "peace president," a shrewd move for someone who is campaigning in a state whose citizens did not seem to be supportive of the war in Iraq. More disturbing is how he says that America will be officially safe if he has four more years in office, which is an interesting comment considering how he said earlier in his Presidency that the war on terror is a perpetual, unending struggle. It raises serious questions about his resolve and his understanding of terrorism if he thinks America will be safe in four years no matter who the President is. These recent comments suggest that Bush himself continues to flip-flop on issues that are vital to our security and is not above changing his position or tenor conveniently. I would suggest to the Bush campaign that Bush does not stand a chance of beating Kerry on the issue of peace considering Kerry's contributions to the effort to bring about an end to the war in Vietnam and his role domestically in bringing about political change during that time.
