A kid at NYU apparently decided to cut the costs of his education by foregoing dorm life and sleeping in NYU's library. www.cnn.com/2004/US/Northeast/04/27/homeless.student.ap/index.htmlApparently, NYU found out about it and gave him a free room. Something about the fact that the kid had enough extra money to register his domain name in keeping a blog about his adventures makes me wonder about the extent to which all of this can be taken at face value.

One of my 4th Healy floormates spent so much time in Lauinger near finals that we carried his mattress, sheets, pillow, and all, over to him one night and set it up next to his study carrel - much to his embarrassment.

I knew a few people like that. The territoriality of people studying in the library always creeped me out a little - no one should be that beholden to a table or chair.
I always felt kind of bad for the people who had apartments on the east side of the Village A "A" building. Talk about being in the fishbowl - nothing but a lot of bored people constantly starting out at you from those readings areas.
