Actually, the article just says that the applicants' scores are down. It doesn't say anything about students going to Georgetown.

To quote the article: "In the Washington area, applicants' scores dropped by seven points at Georgetown University." Which, of course, is not the same thing as the scores of students who were admitted or students who will attend. Those scores will also be down a bit. Mighty strange that the SAT introduced a new component to the exam that was creating some controversy, and it just so happens that the new writing component had higher average scores than the reading or the math. Couldn't be the College Board trying to make the writing section more popular, now could it?

No worries. I just got a chuckle out of it. Anyway, Jack is generally the expert on all things admissions on this board. Just ask him. Or don't, he'll tell you whether you want to know or not... Edited to say: Damn work getting in the way of me posting and Jack stealing all my thunder...

Good play Jack. Now you still have a chance. Way to see the long term strategy...not just the immediate sting of wounded pride. High Five!

I clearly have no idea what I'm getting myself into :-D Welcome to the board - and you're dead-on right; you have no idea what you're getting yourself into. Like the Vermont Highway Patrol "we show you da funny." Hoyatalk is such a time-consumer for some of us, we even get lampooned by second years in their class skit for wasting time on Hoyatalk during crim pro class .... not that I'm pointing anyone out ....

1. I think there is some lag in these numbers Segner is actually a junior now and the SAT drop is just being noted.
2. Charles Deacon is known to measure many applicants awsomenessocity by more than scores alone.

LOL. A total Segner job by afirth. Really? It looked to me like she spelled everything correctly. And its not like her points were wrong. Honestly, that was just a rookie Hoyatalk mistake--happens to the best of us.

I was thinking of it in the context of Segner trying to sell a WAG shirt to JT2. If only that involved spelling mistakes... In afirth's defense, her incident here does not even come close to Segner's.

Didn't he also try to charge Muir for hamburgers at a soccer game?

I was only channeling Mrs. GPHoya, who once told me she stopped reading the board after a particularly misogynistic thread was allowed to fester overly long by the asleep-at-the-wheel moderators.

Would that have been a "former cheerleader thread" or a "current athletic department employee thread?" That's why Mrs. FormerHoya isn't allowed to read the board. (I swear it isn't because she thinks I'm a massive dork who wastes too much time with the other dorks here.)

They could have been, but I wouldn't put it past him. He tried to sell JT2 a shirt at JMU. And he did sell Muir a burger at a soccer game. Of course, I noticed after the transaction had taken place. Also, Murph definately dropped Muir's burger in the transition to the bun.
