I want to extend an invitation to what promises to be a fascinating lecture on Georgetown's history. The American Studies Program's annual Richardson Lecture features Emmett Curran, Professor Emeritus of History, speaking on, "Timothy Healy and the Last Years of Georgetown's Second Century . . . not with a whimper." Professor Curran has been working on a multivolume history of Georgetown, and this is the latest installment. The lecture will be held on March 21 at 5 p.m. in the ICC Auditorium. A really nice reception follows. The invitation is open to all who are interested.

Professor Curran has been working on a multivolume history of Georgetown, and this is the latest installment. When is volume 2 of the bicentennial history going to be published? Volume 1 (1789-1889) was published a few years late in 1993, and volume 2 (1889-present) has never been released.

The lecture is next Tuesday, March 21, at 5:00 in ICC Auditorium.
As to the book, I'm not sure... Professor Curran retired about two years ago to head back to Kentucky and be near horses. I had heard that he was still working on it, but I haven't heard anything recently.

I will email Emmett to find out when this volume will be published, as this talk will be from this newer work. I've had numerous requests from alumns for copies of the talk, which I hope to make available after the lecture.

Emmett Curran plans to submit the final mEditedcript of the second volume of Georgetown's history to Georgetown University Press in three months, and the book should be out within a year.
