Okay, we just have won our second NCAA men's basketball championship and you want to celebrate/wind down. Where do you go? Las Vegas, of course. And just right after the Final Four the Georgetown Club of Southern Nevada is hosting the John Carroll Awards Weekend this year, April 5-9 (jcaw.georgetown. edu). We have lots of fun events planned. I am in charge of the hospitality desk/suite at the Mandalay Bay, so I expect some of the board members to stop by and say hi (lic and maybe SF have indicated that they might be there). The main dinner is pricey ($200, but $150 for younger grads), but there should be other activities that will fit your budget. And all this in the "entertainment capital of the world." Hope to see some of you there.

I promised myself that I won't go to Vegas again until I finish grad school and have a salary. It's just too easy top drop money that I don't really have! I'll be back many times after September

Just wanted to bump up this thread. There are about six weeks until the JCAW will be in Las Vegas. We had a meeting with the Georgetown people here to finalize plans. The block of rooms at the Mandalay Bay (275) has been exhausted. Georgetown is hoping to have other rooms available as a block. Apparently, they have a deal with the Venetian, so that is a possibility. Check up at jcaw.georgetown.edu for updates and online registration. The Elton John show is very popular too (even the Jesuits signing up for that). I just heard that one of our premier basketball players (hint, one of the best guards to play for GU) from my era will probably attend. So, especially if you are a left coast Hoya, think of coming over to Las Vegas. Lots of activities. They should be sending out a special email to the young alums soon emphasizing events that "younger" alumni would like (clubbing, etc.).

Just got a call from the best point guard in the east during my years at GU, Jimmy Brown. He is making his reservations for the JCAW and wanted some details. Come and meet this great player in Las Vegas.

Former President Bill Clinton and Georgetown President Jack DeGioia will conduct a conversation on current events at the John Carroll Awards Weekend in Las Vegas on the Friday at that week. For more details see jcaw.georgetown.edu/schedule/billclinton.html

Just wanted to give this thread a bump, since the JCAW is next week at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. I was hoping this would be a big celebration in honor of our 2nd NCAA Bball National Title. Sigh, it was not to be (maybe next year). But it should still be a good weekend.

I will not be able to make it this year, unfortunately (friend's wedding). Will certainly go next year, though! HOYA SAXA and have fun in Vegas everyone.

I'll be there towards the end of the weekend, but not at the dinner. The cost is too much and the event 's median age skews well above my class year.

So far I know three on the board, who will be there - DFW, lic, and myself. Anymore takers? All the action starts tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing JTIII out here too.

Well, it was Hoya heaven today at the JCAW. I sat and listened to Jack DeGioia and William Jefferson Clinton seated besides Bernard M., JTIII, and Frank Rienzo. How is that for a trio of Georgetown greats! At the Hoya bball reception tonight, in addition to the former mentioned greats, we were able to drive over Hoya Hall of Famer Jimmy Brown and his wife. At the reception itself, JTIII spoke about the team - about taking baby steps, and it is not all about having a good season once in a while, but a program. In attendance was JTII, who is still bigger than life. Also, enjoyed talking to and running into (everywhere) Pat McArdle. Incidentally, JTIII does not read the Hoyatalk board. At Princeton, he said he didn't want to know what the people were writing, except if a player was doing something he shouldn't be. Also, he said Ball State was a good fit for Ronnie. As to a Thompson coaching a Ewing, it is all up to PE,Jr.
