I'm a member of the PSM. The motive behind this thread is to drag the PSM's name through the mud and attempt to discredit it by any means necessary... and the most noticeable means here is lying. Al-Awda is not a member organization of the PSM and Mr. Chemayel has nothing to do with the PSM. The PSM is not the same as the ISM. The actions of Saudi Arabia have nothing to do with the PSM. And the actions of one Palestinian here or there does not represent the entire nation, which has been struggling against a violent, illegal occupation for decades. The PSM does not support terrorism, and only engages in non-violent actions in support of the Palestinians; i.e., showing films, hosting speakers, writing op-eds, and opening the circle of debate. I encourage readers of this board to ignore the posts of people on this board whose intentions are to stifle any discourse or debate on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

My reply to most of this posting appears in the other thread, hoyatalk2.proboards48.com/index.cgi?board=bluegray&action=display&thread=1136315921, and I won't duplicate it here. I did not answer your argument concerning Al-Awda (the organization whose member allegedly solicited a bomber to kill Ariel Sharon's hospital visitors) so I will do it here. www.frontpagemag.com/articles/readarticle.asp?ID=14063"In the last three years the ISM has developed an extensive presence in the United States, while operating under several organizational names to avoid unwanted scrutiny of its operations. One of these entities, Al Awda (the Return in Arabic), is also known as the Palestine Right to Return to Return Coalition (PRRC). It is led by Mazen Qumsiyeh, a Yale geneticist. There are Al Awda chapters all over the United States, particularly in the vicinities of U.S. college campuses. Other ISM groups under the name SUSTAIN (Stop U.S. Taxpayer Assistance to Israel Now) operate in Los Angeles and New York. In New Jersey, the ISM supporters call themselves Palsolidarity. When the volunteers go to the Middle East to aid the PLO they go under the umbrella name of the International Solidarity Movement. When they hold events in the U.S. and Canada they call themselves the Palestine Solidarity Movement." www.adl.org/Israel/answer.asp" On March 23, 2004, along with the pro-Palestinian groups Al-Awda and New Jersey Solidarity, ANSWER co-sponsored an "emergency rally" outside the Israel consulate in New York following the killing of longtime Hamas leader Sheik Ahmed Yassin. Speakers memorialized Yassin while the crowd chanted "Hey hey, ho ho, Hamas will never go" and "Long live jihad." One speaker, a member of the pro-Palestinian group Al-Awda, extolled Sheikh Yassin and other terrorist leaders, saying, "We are here with you standing hand in hand."" Note that New Jersey Solidarity (Charlotte Kates' chapter of the Palestine Solidarity Movement) chanted in favor of Hamas, a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) as defined by the U.S. State Department. And Al-Awda was right there doing the same thing. Al-Awda is also associated with ISM/PSM through the Wheels of Justice Bus Tour (against Operation Iraqi Freedom). It seems to have "forgotten" to report several extracurricular activities on its fiscal 2004 Form 990 (tax return for a 501(c)(3) tax exempt charity), such as trying to influence legislation, posting a guide on writing anti-Israel propaganda, and boycotting Israeli goods. The 501(c)(3) tax-exempt Middle East Childrens' Alliance (MECA), which is apparently ISM-USA's fiscal sponsor, also seems to have neglected to tell the IRS about this application of tax-exempt charitable funds that are supposedly being used to provide medicine, food, clothing, toys, and so on and so forth to children in the Middle East.

I replied to this idiot in the other board. I'm amused by his use of frontpagemag as a source. Not sure if english is your first language, it wasn't mine, however, I do know that "I" and "P" are different letters; so are the words "International" and "Palestine." For more information on the PSM, I ecourage people to visit their website, www.palestinesolidaritymovement.org

I agree with fkiblawi that Georgetown alumni should look at the Palestine Solidarity Movement's site, especially www.palestinesolidaritymovement.org/pointsofunity.htm Note especially the Point of Unity, "Opposition to all forms of oppression (Racism, Sexism, Homophobia, etc.)." THIS IS A LIE. By supporting the Palestinian Authority's drive to place more disputed land under Palestinian and not Israeli control, PSM and GU's Students for Justice in Palestine are supporting sexism, homophobia, and religious persecution. The Palestinian Solidarity Movement and by extension Georgetown's Students for Justice in Palestine are lying to the Georgetown Community when they say they oppose homophobia.Gay Man Criticizes Palestinian Society By Alex Tehranian Special to The Hoya Friday, October 22, 2004; Page A1 www.thehoya.com/news/102204/news6.cfmEnough.
