We just recently got a Five Guys here in the upper part of SC and I noticed on their site they have a bunch up in the DC area including one on Wisconsin in Georgetown.
The local press has been raving about it down here, I just wondered if it was actually any good?
(Waxes nostalgically about going to Boogie's on Wisconsin.)

Yes, it is very good. I believe they started in Alexandria and I used to make special trips to Old Town just for the burgers. They open in the old Au Pied spot on Wisconsin Ave last year and the quality was just as good. They cook all burgers from scratch, so it is not particularly fast food, but it is very good, and with tons of choices for toppings. One small order of fries is enough for two people if you are also getting burgers, and the fries are generally outstanding, although less consistent. Five Guys is always featured in Washingtonian Mag for best cheap eats in the area- give it a shot.
In other news, apparently Wisey's is opening up a second location on Wisconsin Ave, their first ever attempt to branch out the wonder of the chicken madness. If they stay open later there they could do very well.

If Five Guys catered, they'd do my wedding. No joke.

Five Guys is incredible. If the GU meal plan was accepted at Five Guys, I would have had several heart attacks by now.

I made it to Five Guys in Greenville tonight. It was worth every penny of it. I called my fiancee and told her we could have the one up in White Marsh cater the rehearsal dinner. She wasn't amused. I did notice a post on DCist at www.dcist.com/archives/2005/11/07/in_search_of_bovinity.php in the past week or so that dealt with the best burger in DC and had alot of people sniping at the Washingtonian list, which was topped again by Five Guys. Alot of interesting stuff about the Vitaly Yurchenko mens' room going by the wayside when Au Pied closed and Five Guys moved in. Someone else posted that the Chinese place that the USSR-US reps met at during the Cuban Missile crisis is still open. Kissinger and Chinese officials met there to plan Nixon's trip too.

My favorite part about Five Guys is the free peanuts. Almost makes you not need to eat your burger afterwards.
Almost.

Also, the Five Guys in Georgetown has been pretty irregular about having them on hand.
