That's just silly.
I never heard a single person say a disparaging word about GW while I was at GU. I can't even think of it coming up in conversation unless I met a GW student at a bar or something.
Who are these people?

Who are these people? Really? I have been a part of many convesations comparing the two schools. I have to totally agree with the article. It's two different kinds of students that attend the two schools. All the engineering people should go to GW since we don't offer that here. However, if you want Government, Business, and Liberal Arts and Health Studies, you will probably end up here. The community is stronger here because we have a smaller campus. Again, I don't know if that is better or worse, it depends on the student. I just hope the people going either here or GW fit in and like it.

The article does speak to a complete inferiority complex going on at the University of Foggy Bottom - the conversations that I have had with GW students all revolve around them justifying their decision to go to GW when its really a non-sequitor. What kind of message does it send when the welcome week edition of your campus newspaper has a story designed to put those who didn't get into the school up the street feel a little bit better. GW can't change the fact that a good number of GU transfer students come from GW, Nova, ND, and AU - the best thing for them would be to stop trying to explicitly compare themselves to us.

I never even had a second thought to the academic place of GW. Many of my friends went to GW. My younger brother is a student there. However, I have had plenty of exposure to GW students who got extremely defensive just on the mere mention that I went to GU. As if I would look down on them. Weirdest thing ever. Honestly, I really do think that the schools are extremely similar. The only difference is we have the reputation, while they have the facilities. I say they are close to balancing out. That is no knock on GU, but a complement to how far GW has come in the last decade.

Come on, GW can't hold a candle to GU in any aspect. GW is an absolute joke. GU may have a superiority complex, but that would be the only negative I can see. Otherwise, GU is so much better.

There is a reason my company hires more students from Georgetown than any other university we hire out of... and I'm sure there is a reason we don't hire the most students out of GW... just a thought.
Must also be a reason that a GW professor told me to go to GU business - even if the evening program is brand new - rather than go to GW's evening MBA program... just a thought.

GW is a decent school, but I'll never, ever understand the appeal of it.

Like U$C, GW has some very strong graduate programs. Its undergraduate programs suffer a bit from that, though.

I sincerely hope most students have better things to talk about than GW. Reminds me of the guy on everyone's freshman floor that wanted to compare SAT scores.
