Congratulations, I can still remember how great it felt to open my acceptance letter.
And I hope to see you helping to make the student section an even stronger and stronger force over the coming years.

Congratulations, JimmyHoya!
And, because your intent to attend Georgetown suggests that perhaps you come from a family of means, now would be a good time to inform you of the policy that new admittees have to cover the HoyaTalk Hall-o'-Famers bar tab during one celebratory night out...
Seriously, congratulations - I hope your GU experience is every bit as rewarding and memorable as mine.

Congrats!
When my acceptance came in a small envelope (not a big packet like many schools send out), I though it was a rejection. It was a great feeling to know that I had been accepted.

That happened to me too (the day after getting waitlisted by U Chicago). Anyway, congrats Jimmy and welcome to the Hoya Family!

Yep, they'll do that. I asked Charles Deacon about that one time--what's up with those small envelopes? You trying to freak us out or something? He says the Admissions Office just doesn't like overburdening folks with a stack of papers and forms and junk right away. They know what you REALLY want to see, after all. So they let you have that, then let you worry about the forms later. Congratulations. One tip--make you sure you go to the reception in your area for admitted students. It's always (at least in my area) at some insanely rich person's house with nice food. You can learn a lot about a college based on the food at the receptions.

As an alum interviewer, it is always great to be able to call up one of your interviewees and congratulate them on their acceptances. Well done! ;D

Fantastic! I remember when I got the small envelope. Freaked me out, but I was out of my mind with glee when I finally read the first paragraph. I actually jumped so high I hit my head on the ceiling of our dining room. Congratulations!

I always warn students that I interview of this very fact. I don't want anyone passing out at the sight of a small envelope.

Wake Forest, William & Mary, BC, UVA, Notre Dame, Holy Cross among others...
I was admitted to Holy Cross and waitlisted at all the others 'cept BC and UVA, who outright rejected me.
(That's what happens when you go to a very small school where everyone is friends and everyone is applying to essentially the same places/regions. Can't take all 12 (deserving) applicants from one school, can ya? Especially not when there's only 37 people in the class to begin with.)
Not that it matters now I'm a Hoya and I'm free from idiotic college admissions people and nutty advisers. Thank the heavens.
