Big East could have revisited ban rulesports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=1958240"The Big East announced Monday that St. John's will not participate in the 2005 Big East tournament. The Big East was willing to reconsider a policy that prevents teams that are ineligible for the postseason from competing in their tournament, but St. John's didn't ask for a waiver after the school self-imposed a postseason ban on Nov. 26."

The ESPN article sounds incorrect--there will not be just one Wednesday game. One game on Wednesday wouldn't make sense with 11 teams.
One likely scenario is the #5 seed also gets a bye and the league plays only three Wednesday games:
Game 1: #6-#11 Game 2: #7-#10 Game 3: #8-#9

Maybe they edited it, but here's what the ESPN article says:
The Big East will hold an 11-team tournament, instead of a 12-team event and play one game at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 9, between the 8th and 9th-seeded teams, followed by a break before the 7th plays the 10th seed at 7 p.m. and the 6th seed plays the 11th seed at 9 p.m. The quarterfinals will begin Thursday with the top five teams receiving byes. The semifinals will be Friday and the final Saturday night. All games will be at Madison Square Garden.
