and this is a suprise to you...? Ha. For me, not a surprise now, after a year and a half of garnering knowledge of the lay of the land in D.C. college hoops land. Still Editedes me off though.

It's not only Maryland. It's the entire ACC. How often have I listened to radio or TV in the DC area looking for a score and heard/seen the scores of all ACC teams but not Georgetown, GW, Mason, American, etc. Question: how much of this is Georgetown's fault?

When I was watching the American-MD game over the holidays and they were doing a quick "recap of local scores" over the half...they showed UVA's score. Then went on to talk about MD some more. They didn't mention GW who was in a tight game at Florida International or Gtown who was beating Clemson...weirdest moment ever. I mean why even call it a local recap if you don't even mention the two local teams playing games that evening? I understand that there wasn't TV coverage or clips, but you can put the score up and say "Jeff Green is having a great game" or "Pops is getting it done inside." Honestly it was a travesty.

Doesn't Maryland and the ACC actually have a contract with CSN/Fox Sports? And the Big East does not?
I don't find their lack of Hoya coverage surprising...they promote their own product. When you watch the Fox pre-game shows on Sundays during football season they focus their coverage on NFC games as that's what their product is. As an AFC fan I don't take any offense.
Perhaps our blame should be focused on the Big East Conference or Georgetown itself for our games ending up on a step-above public axis television? News Channel 8 covers us all the time.

Yeah, ACC has an agreement with Fox Spots for a weekly Sunday night game of the week, so anytime they can pump its ratings, they will.
Fiuthermore, Maryland just built the COMCAST Center...it's only natural they'd get pushed like there's no tommorow on CSN.

Well, in my example we were PLAYING AGAINST AN ACC TEAM! Just saying whatever contracts that might be in place...we are local and playing a team from the conference that they have a contract with.

I also wouldn't trust anything being put out by FOX! They are the kings of garbage television whether its politics or sports. They study what people are listening to and then feed it to the until they puke.
The only thing Fox has done for TV that is positive is the Simpson's and the writers of the Simpson's still rip Fox at every turn.

Now that is infuriating. I mean, it's one thing to not participate because of lack of market interest, but another altogether to seemingly intentionally slight a member of your local market. Yes, MD is the top dog media wise in DC, but who is number #2? Probably pretty close run between GW and GU right now, but at least GU is in a power conference, arguably the best conference in the nation -- especially in the years to come. Why not groom Comcast to be the location of college bball with a focus on the ACC and the BE. Hell, they could even end up sponsoring a BE-ACC challenge. Small minded College Park grads must be behind this one. I smell insecurity.

Those days are over... The Terps have been a pretty good squad...and very exciting to watch...

I just tried ESPN's scoreboard and when I select the Big East Conference, I'm sent to the ACC. Accident?

Those days are over... Those days ruled. You could even get the poo-poo games like against Maryland-Eastern Shore on HTS. They had everything. Never ever missed a beat then...

side note.. why is maryland even in the top 25 at this point? they have beaten no one and lost to GW and at Wisconsin. i guess you could say their best win was vs. FSU yet they only won by 2 at home. a team like BC should be ranked significantly above them. also why hasnt NC State dropped out of the top 25 after losing to WVU and getting beasted by the worst team (SJU) in the big east?
the medias obsession over ACC basketball is sickening. yes UNC, Duke, Wake, GTech are legit top 15 teams (Duke is quite overrated at 5), but this shouldnt ensure breaks for the rest of the conference because they are top heavy.
