An interesting article in the Chicago Tribune mentions that I-A teams will soon be able to count 1 victory over I-AA teams toward bowl eligibility, isolating Northwestern as very interested in this change. Future opponents for the Wildcats include New Hampshire, Northeastern, and Southern Illinois. "I want to give our team and program the best chance to do well in non-conference games and have a legitimate chance to be bowl eligible," athletic director Mark Murphy said.tinyurl.com/8zs22

They can only count I-AAs that offer 90 percent of the maximum number of equivalencies allowed.
63 x .9= 56.7
Isn't this the same Mark Murphy who, as AD at Colgate, said Patriot League programs offer between 50-55 equivalencies per team (comments pre-dated Georgetown in PL)?
So if Northwestern is looking for an easier ticket to a bowl, they might not find it playing anyone from the Patriot League.

Same Mark Murphy. He's also a graduate of the GU Law Center.
Thanks for the clarification on the ratio, I wouldn't expect the Trib to get into that. However, if Patriot teams are currently offering ~55, I think it could be worth it (in certain cases) to go up to 57. For example, I believe Northern Illinois is getting $525,000 for its game at Michigan this weekend. Not sure if I-AA pays that much but it could still be a winning proposition.
