I thought I was paying attention in the off season as much as anyone, but I guess not. When did we get this coach John Perry? Was that on the front page and I missed it? I don't see it on the official football page either- which is downright bizarre. Offensive Coordinator at Dartmouth for four years? That sounds like a coup for any PL team to grab a current Ivy league O.C. for anything but Head Coach. And what is an "associate head coach" anyway, I mean other than a contradiction in terms if I have ever seen one? Presumbly this guy will be in charge of the O or the D as a "head coach" though there are still coordinators for both? Confusing to say the least.

I would say that Perry is a good get for the Hoya Football Program. He learned quite a bit while coaching under Mark Whipple at Brown, and has done well at every other step along the way.

Right. He is the #2 #1 man.

If he coached with Whip, then he should know how to "air it out". Let's hope the O is more successful with the passing game this season versus last. I saw a couple of practices, and seem like we've got some speedy receivers. The competition between QBs, including the Frosh and transfer kid from FAU, should hopefully elevate the output from this position. Not sure who has the inside track at this point.

I was really hoping that the Hoyas could come into pre-season without hearing this all-to-common refrain. Seems like the Hoyas have yet to enter a Patriot League season with a clear favorite at the QB position (let alone a returning starter), and past results don't bode well for the current season. I like spirited competition and firmly believe it brings out the best in the competitors, but the QB position requires a great deal more stability and development.
I hope Perry can pick the guy he likes for his O soon, because the more time that QB gets as the #1 guy, the better things will be down the road.

I have to agree w/ Showcase here--QB competitions that aren't really resolved going into the season have been a problem for the Hoyas. It'd be nice for someone to play so well that they are the clear winner.
