Do any of the fans/parents that attend home and way games tailgate at either?

Yes, but its not always that impressive yet at home, and I've never been to a road game.

The whole "no space" thing kinda kills any chance of doing an actual tailgate. Though there are going to be tailgates w/o cars, if that makes any sense (grilling, beer, but in tents and stuff).

What about McDonough's parking lot? - that doesn't have many cars in it during the weekend/

The tailgating last year was held in the lot in front of McDonough. It's usually sponsored by the Gridiron Club, but sparsely attended. At some away games Hoya alums from that area have sponsored pre-game/half time receptions. I attended the one at Duquesne last year and it was well done. Those are usually announced on the Hoya Saxa site and they typically require some level of payment.
With the new field, an Ivy League opponent for the home opener, and an improved team, I will be disappointed if there isn't a much larger turnout at McDonough before the game.

The Georgetown Events Committee is working with Hoya Blue on creating a massive pre-game bbq and rally before the Brown game/opening of the new stadium. It will be $10 for students, $15 for alumni/friends of the program. The admission price will include all you can eat food, snacks, and beer (if you're over 21). The plan is to block off McDonough, and have a massive party with student bands playing, the pep band, etc. The details are still being finalized, but look for more information to come.

Sounds like a lot of fun, hoya2007. We need something like this. Too bad I won't be 21 just yet. Then again, I just realized that my 21st birthday just so happens to fall on homecoming, October 22, this year... that will be a hell of a weekend...

When I was in school we would occassionally grab kegs and park cars up where that satellite is right next to McD. That was a decent spot and with the field being down low, I think you would still have a birds eye view. Just a thought for some additional space. I still think the university should sponsor kegs on the harbin area as that is close to the field and it would generate some interest. Kids would have to show some form of ID, but the beer should flow for free just like it does at other places like Emory for one.

Not only is there no chance in hell of the university sponsoring kegs on Harbin, they won't even let Hoya Blue/Georgetown Events do it in McDonough. Our plan for the tailgate was shot down--we're converting it into a BBQ in the SWQ, but it's just not gonna be the same. I have to say I'm quite frustrated about it.

Who is responsible for this? I heard late last week it was a go.

I was just walking on the old road to Yates today (they had removed the fenses and trucks, although temporarily) and noticed that we have a possibly awesome tailgating place on the North West side of the field. It's on the end of the power plan but now that the hill is gone it's going to be very suitable for grilling and watching the game. It is elevated above the field and a great view. Anyone there would also be almost behind the stands and able to see over them. Or, at least over temporary stands which is what we are going to have this year.
