Hey guys... I need some help... I am a writer for The Hoya and I am looking to cover football in a new way this fall... In the past we have run a traditional, boring preview every Friday before a game (look at any Fall Friday issue of The Hoya and you will know exactly what I mean). This year I want to do something different... instead of running a traditional preview I want to run a feature-style preview that has an angle, more along the lines of how the Post covers the Redskins previews... I know there are some interesting story lines out there and I was hoping you all would have some suggestions... Are there any players with really cool stories that deserve to be told? Any interesting match ups? Former high school teammates? Former high school rivals? Etc... If you have ideas that would be a huge help... Oh, and if you have any general suggestions for The Hoya about football, or any other sport for that matter, that would be awesome too. Thanks so much! The defense is probably the angle you want to look at--it's definately the Hoyas biggest strength this year. Onibaku (sp?) has a shot at the Hoyas sack record, I think. Also, you could look at the Hoyas search for a kicker, which is in it's 4th (?) year now? I think there are a few kids competing for the spot--you could spotlight that.

If he has a shot to break the sack record - A weekly update on his chase of the record would be great.

He's got 20.5 sacks and the career record is 31.5 sacks. If he matches his production from last year (10.5 sacks) he'll break the Georgetown record. I think Hoya Blue is going to do some kind of sack countdown in Red Square this year.

Actually if he matches his production from last year he will be 0.5 sacks behind the record.

how do you get half a sack? Often more than one player hits the QB at about the same time. It's a judgment call as to whether the "other" guy really helped or just jumped on the pile. If more than one guy truly helped in the sack, they each get 1/2 sack. Works that way with tackle statistics, except everyone who contributed to bringing the runner down gets a "tackle". If you add them up for a game, you will see that the number of tackles exceeds the number of defensive plays. That always looks a little strange, but not as strange as baseball when a pitcher records four strikeouts in one inning.
