Great move for the Elis--it gets the Yale name out beyond the same three non-conf. opponents every year and a nice recruiting pitch, too, because the Ivies don't play I-A schools anymore.
Next Ivy/I-A game I'd like to see announced: Princeton-Rutgers, the original college football rivalry.

I remember hearing that Yale wanted to play the academies again a few years ago, and the people at West Point flatly told them, "The US Military Academy has no interest in playing 1-AA football teams." I guess they gave in.

There's a new AD and coach at the Point since those comments. With Army now as an independent, they need to fill the schedule, too, just like Navy is playing the Citadel and VMI.

The Academies playing the state military academies makes sense. The Citadel played at West Point in the early 90s and took the whole Corps of Cadets. A ton of alums went too.

Speaking of the Corps, the game I'm waiting for is next season: Texas A&M at Army. They might send a chunk of the Aggie Corps, too.
The problem is that there's a rumor that Army might sell the home game back to A&M. Wouldn't be the same, I'm afraid.

How serious is A&M about the 117K seat proposal?

How serious is A&M about the 117K seat proposal? www.theeagle.com/aandmnews/091804kyle.phpThe regents approved it as a long-term (10-20 years out) concept, but the cost of tickets is getting so high there ($45-$85 a seat) that right now it probably would only sell out for Texas. Then again, in 2015, who knows? Got to give the Aggies credit for thinking ahead. They're even planning a light rail line through campus. www.tamu.edu/vision2020/groundwork/153.php

I noticed how high the seats at Kyle were last year, especially from the year before for the Texas game.
Tickets are getting high at all the other schools that are doing expansions/improvements as well with surcharges and bonds added in to ticket costs.

Wow, you know you've got a big campus when you build a light rail system to connect it. Georgetown just added a third GUTS bus stop ...
