Something to honor the Greatest athlete in Georgetown's History, Al Blozis. There must be some prominently located monument to honor this man. I have no doubt that there would be plenty of people willing to donate the money for something because this is not simply an option, it is a necessity. There should really be a statue by the entrance to the facility or something like that. For those who aren't that familar with Al Blozis, please read the following article. www.thehoya.com/sports/80th/sports1.htm

That would be nice. And his obituary from the Hoya should be on the statue as well.

Absolutely! Thanks for bringing this on the board.
A life-size (6-6) statue of Blozis would be a great addition.

The naming rights have been secured to the stadium, but they haven't said who it will be named after, right? wonder who it is?

is there currently any statue, plaque or other kind of memorial for him on the campus?
it is a great idea .. they should incorporate that into their designs.

Not that I am aware of or have ever seen, and I think I've seen just about everything related to athletics on campus. It's truly sad and an embarrassment that there is nothing, but this is a chance to correct that. How incredible would Blozis Stadium with a life size statue of the legend by the main entrance be?

There used to be an enormous picture of him with an explanation of a few of his accomplishments in one of the stairwells to the coaches offices in McDonough. No idea about the present situation.

It was still there two years ago. I agree, though, that a statue of him outside the football stadium would be awesome.

That's typical Georgetown though. The only thing they have commemorating the greatest athlete in Georgetown History is a picture and explanation in a stairwell leading to coaches offices.
There should be something that the general Georgetown community can see and learn about, not just something in a place where pretty much everyone should already know about him.
Statue outside Blozis Stadium.
