Why let some nuisance like facts get in the way of a self-righteous editorial? "Journalism" today is about embracing one side of an issue and running with it.
Reading between the lines, it seems like the editorial board may just be venting its own frustration at having been caught totally unawares by the MSF construction (after all, if they have no idea what's going on until after its occurring, they can hardly claim to be bringing the GU community "news").

Hmmm... Let's see, according to the Voice, the MSF will have no positive effect on:
1) Attendance at sporting events 2) Recruiting better athletes 3) Attracting alumni and neighbors who may become contributors 4) The overall pride in the University 5) Meeting the Georgetown commitment that was at least implied when they joined the Patriot League 6) Enhancing the reputation of the University when fans around the east vist the campus to see a game
I suspect that the editorial was written by someone who, if truth be fully known, does not see very much value at all in varsity athletics at the college level. To suggest that the quality of the venue has no effect on the experience of watching a contest is simply ludicrous.
Oh well, I guess the rest of us will just have to suffer as we watch the unfolding of this tragic event--the construction of a facility to make Georgetown proud.

Not to mention the fact that the MSF, like all current and new construction at Georgetown is 100% philanthropy-driven, so it's completely untrue that tuition dollars are paying for this improvement to campus.

What a bunch of stupidity, I really am sick of all the mistakes made in sports writing in the campus newspapers.
Even ignoring the fact that they don't highlight the benefits of the MSF at all, it sickens me that they took the "university spending money on the wrong priorities" route. Can't they do some research and find out that none of this is university money and that it has all been raised through donations. Ahhhhh, get your facts straight people!

Of course, it's been a little while since the Voice let the facts get in the way of their editorials.

Guys, it's the Voice. No one reads the thing anyway. And if they do, no one trusts it.
But if you are worried, just write a scathing letter.

Guys, its the Voice. No one reads the thing anyway. And if they do, no one trusts it. But if you are worried, just write a scathing letter. I did that once! I got so angry about some homerish column one of the columnists wrote in "The Hoya" about the BCS I wrote a letter attacking it. It ended up being 4 pages long. Apparently I have a problem with this length thing. Needless to say, never even came close to getting published. I do find it one of the more amusing things I've seen lately in GTown journalism that an editorial riddled with factual inaccuracies and several months behind the times includes in its final sentence the phrase: "students need to play closer attention to the University's projects" Good idea guys!! Let me know when you try it out!

Oh, I now officially hate the Voice.
I went to their website and the pic at the top of their pages is someone walking right on top of the Georgetown seal at the top of the Healy steps in orange sneakers.
YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO WALK AROUND IT!

Only if you want to graduate. Once you've done that you're okay.
My wife and I enjoyed walking across if on the way out of Dahlgren after our wedding.
She also recalled when one of her soccer teammates (on a wet day) almost absentmindedly stepped on the seal. She quickly sidestepped it, but slipped and missed a week of practice due to her sprained ankle.
Good times...

Remember when we saw that guy entering the dining hall today in the orange Carmelo uni, that made me sick, luckily he wasn't a student.

what are the differences (besides, apparently, quality) between the Hoya and the Voice? is the voice a weekly paper? Quick history lesson: The HOYA was founded in 1920. It focuses on campus news and sports. Editorially, it is centrist and usually stays out of politics. The HOYA was a weekly until 1987, whereupon it is now twice weekly. The HOYA is a broadsheet (size of Wash. Post) The Voice was founded in 1969 by dissident HOYA editors who felt the paper was not focusing enough on Vietnam and other issues of the day. It focuses on cover stories and opinion pieces, less so on sports. Editorially, it is liberal and comments often on national and internatiional issues. The Voice is a tabloid and publishes weekly.
