I know that all the drawings of the completed MSF on GUHoyas.com show the end result that we're going for, but does anybody have any idea what it will look like after Phase I? I'm pretty sure that we only have money fundraised for the first phase as of right now. Phase I should be finished in time for fall's football season, right? What is Harbin Field/Stadium going to look like by then, especially with regards to the seating on both sides of the field?

I believe that Phase I was initially supposed to be all ground work including the field, walls that enclose the facility, the lawn that is just below the wall by the old baseball field/ current parking lot and the side of the stands that has been the visitors side in recent years.
The side that has been the home side is supposed to be the bigger side with all the offices and facilities like weight rooms and all and would be part of phase II.
I hope that Phase I is still all that I described because it would be nice to at least have 1 side of a real stadium by the fall.

I hope I am wrong, but I believe the "new" phase 1, will be a new surface, all infrastructure (electrical, footings, etc.) and possibly some new fencing. It is my understanding that the current (old) stands will be reinstalled for the 2005 season. I am not sure that there will be a significant change in what we see this fall with the exception of the playing surface. The hope is that additional pledges will be made to supplement the current funds that sit ready to bring these facilities to fruition. I would be interested in what type of fund-raising efforts are/will be underway to expedite the MSF's completion.

Looks like they have clarified the phases of construction on guhoyas.com. The facility will be built in a two-phase sequence to minimize the effect on game schedules, to allow for greater integration among facility projects, and to allow more time to continue the fundraising efforts. Phase 1A will involve the construction of the artificial turf field, East Stands, North Lawn, and the permanent and temporary fencing. The existing scoreboard will be temporarily relocated and reused. Phase 1B will include the completion of the West stands, permanent fencing, a two-level press box, support spaces, locker rooms, video and conference rooms, training room, and other support spaces as well as a new scoreboard. guhoyas.collegesports.com/genrel/033005aaa.htmlI'm really hoping that they fully complete Phase 1A by the fall. It would be awesome to at least have one side of the stands completed by then. I hope they can get the facility fully completed by fall 2006.

I'm really hoping they can finish Phase 1A by the fall as well, so we can have at least one side of new seats for the fall football season. I don't see why they can't. And I really hope they don't ever bring back the home side old wooden bleachers, those things were crap.
The north lawn should look nice. I guess we'll all just have to wait and see how construction goes... I'm hoping the finished product can be completed by fall 2006 too, our senior year. This may be a little wishful thinking, considering they don't even have all the money for Phase 1B yet. However, they need need to make this happen. This should awaken some interest in the football program, allow MSB building construction to get underway, and move offices from McDonough to MSF to get ready for a massive McDonough renovation!

From what I am hearing, the staging schedule can be kind of fluid based on, what else, money. If some additional funding shows up, schedules and even some of the actual plan can be amended on the fly. However it happens, it sure is exciting to see what's going on at the moment.
