Hi, guys, I'm an 82 grad of GU who began her sports career watching Xavier football games with her dad, who is a proud alum of X. It got my whole sporting interest off the ground which continued through my Georgetown years and beyond.
My young nephew attended his first-ever Georgetown football game with me this year with the GU-Holy Cross finale, which was an exciting game, to say the least. We had an easy time getting there and had a blast at the game. He loved being close to the action. Indeed my nephew enjoyed it every bit as much as seeing Notre Dame (his dad and several other sibs are ND grads), and he wants to go to as many GU games as he can next year.
Since I still maintain my childhood attachments to X, I got very interested in the recent debate they're having about reviving football at X (which ended in 70). I think many Xavier fans see football as a threat to the rising hoops program, but I think Georgetown shows that it can be done.
DFW posted an excellent commentary on this subject on the main Xavier board, musketeermadness.com, and I'm just posting my thanks here as well.
Hope to see you all at future Hoyas hoops/fb games!

82VA, welcome to our little corner of the internet... I appreciate your insights and support for the team, and I echo your thanks for all that DFW has done to support (and build support for) the Hoyas!

Amen to that. DFW is everywhere and always worth reading. Excellent stuff on the Xavier board.

My pleasure - glad to be here. It was gratifying for me to see how much my nephew enjoyed the Holy Cross game and how enthused he is about going to GU games next fall.
I first saw DFW's posts at ndnation and enjoyed reading them (okay, I grew up on ND football, too). He made a great case for X restoring football, I thought.
Am hoping to go to the GU-ND hoops game in January - GO HOYAS!

Thanks for the comments. There needs to be more Jesuit representation in college football, and X would be a potential non-conference game for the Hoyas at some point.
One of the posters suggested that I was telling people what to do. Not at all. As I said in that post, if X simply doesn't want football, that's fine, but given its football history, non-scholarship I-AA is worth a look.

I didn't think you were telling X what to do - just offering an opinion (as showcase did in the other thread with me re Ty W's firing from ND). That's perfectly valid. I thought you made great points.
