For those who saw on ESPN the great game Saturday night between USC and Virginia Tech at the Stadium Formerly Named For Jack Kent Cooke (no thanks to Dan Snyder) you may also have seen the crowd that traveled to the game--over 90,000 in a region with the reputation as a poor college sports town.
Saturday's Post noted that there are approximately 30,000 Tech alumni in DC which purchased over 47,000 tickets for the event. That's 1.6 tickets for every living Hokie alum in the area!
What other school has 30,000 alumni in the DC area?Georgetown.
There seems to be little publicity so far this year in persuading any of these 30,000 to get to a football (much less basketball) game this season, but if even 10% of these alumni would get out to a game this fall, it would be a step in the right direction.
Any ideas in this regard?

I guess I'm about to be a bit redundant and repeat something I posted elsewhere. For Georgetown to get some ink, they simply need to start winning. They start with three "winnable" games before they travel to Colgate. A record of 2-1 (or, of course 3-0) should open a few eyes. Anything less and they'll probably have to beat one or two of the upper tier schools in the Patriot League. I saw them scrimmage on Friday and there's some real potential (and depth) on that squad. Of course, "potential" is useless if wasted, but I'm getting psyched for Saturday.

That announcement will probably come soon. All three top contenders looked very good at times on Friday.

I agree, all three QBs showed strengths at times. Seems to me their running abilities overshadowed the passing. Could be timing at this point, because the arms looked strong. What's your thought on the running game. Kim Sarin didn't get alot of reps. Is he hurt, or do you think they were saving him for the real gametime action? He's the #1 back, from what I've been told.

I really don't know how the depth chart shapes up at RB. I hear we're deep there as well. Sarin is as quick as about any Division I back, but he's small. Slayton has looked quite good as well, so my marginally educated guess is that we'll see a good bit of both players. By the way, "Guest", why don't you pick a name and sign up. It'll be fun to bounce ideas around during the season. ;D
