Does hoyafoeva work for Nike or a sports marketing company? I can't believe someone would take the time to post 10 times in support of white uniforms. Or perhaps he/she is with the fashion police. And to write that true fans aren't supporting Hoyas in white is just plain wrong. We all support the team. We just want them to wear the school colors. And can anyone find a jersey for sale on the Internet that isn't Roy's #55 in navy blue? I would love to buy a Ewing Jr. jersey in gray if I could find one. Nike is doing a poor job of selling jerseys period. Try promoting the gray ones first before attempting a new color scheme. You can buy a gray Roy jersey tinyurl.com/32az8cThat link didn't work for me. Also, Hoyafeva is blatantly infringing on Lic's copyright. We already have one rambling incoherent poster on this board, we do not need a second.

And the stream of consciousness posts have to go, although they do give hoyafoeva the inside track on the "next hoyaeighties/baselinejournal" label... He's already firmly planted on the inside of that track -- he is hoyaeighties. Sometimes when he's really worked up about something he throws his initials into the middle of a stream-of-consciousness rant. Both hoyafoeva and hoyaeighties 'happen' to throw the same initials in there. I don't need any more convincing, nor do I intend to read any more of his posts.

I have to wonder whether a 30 point blowout would have provoked the same reaction . . . .

I have to wonder whether a 30 point blowout would have provoked the same reaction . . . . Yes, it would have. I'm not one of those folks who worries too much either way unless the uniforms are downright ugly. But, what I don't get about the whites is why the uniforms aren't white, blue and gray. Instead, they seem to be white and black. Lots of schools have white uniforms where the other colors are their school colors, and they look fine if the other colors are actually featured. Of course, many of those schools don't have a "light" color in their school colors.

I have been presented with an opinion by hoyals05 which matches my point of view and mindset. Therefore, like any good American, I will not look into this myself and check its veracity, but rather will accept hoyals05's hypothesis as the truth. ;D As for me, I hate the white unis and that would be the case whether we lost, won by 5 or won by 50. The fact that we played poorly while wearing them certainly adds fuel to the fire though. I probably wouldn't say "burn them" if we won by 50, but I still wouldn't like them and would hope the team doesn't wear them again.

I truly believe that one of Brandon Bowman's greatest contribution to Georgetown basketball was the 4 pt. play at ND, because the Hoyas never wore the back uniforms again because of the negative karma

Random thought about the uni's
1 - I am not a fan of the whites. We wore those a lot during my years at g town 2000 - 2004 (ie esh era) and we weren't particularly good. Make whatever reason you want - I associate the grey jerseys and the blue jerseys with Ws.
2 - as for the NCAA rules (light in nature, dark in nature) what does UNC do? They wear white at home I believe and that "carolina blue" on the road. Carolina Blue is by no means dark in nature. So I gotta ask, what would happen if they came to Verizon? Would they were their carolina blue jersey's and we wear the grey's? You never see two teams with colors like that on the court at the same time.
I guess what i am saying is its fine to have white jersey's (I wish they had our blue and grey in the jerseys somewhere instead of a color that looks a lot like black) but we will need those at some point depending on our opponent. I think the rule usually says that the home team has to switch if the colors are too similar or something.

These jerseys do have our colors on them, there is gray on the shorts and the blue is just really dark so the contrast on the bright white makes it look black. They are better than the old teal and white jerseys, but still, there is no need for these and the grays look much better, are unique, and have seen a ton of success.

I have to wonder whether a 30 point blowout would have provoked the same reaction . . . . yes it would have, maybe not as much ink spilled, but you misunderstand- those of us who are students/alums don't ask for much, but we demand school colors on our school athletics teams.

i think dark is relative, the official rules only say dark and light that is it. so if unc were to play gu at verizon i dont know because the gray may be darker than the carolina blue. i suppose that one of the teams may have to wear an alternate. as i was reading the 2008 rules earlier i didnt read anything about who would have to switch but those regulations may not be in the particular 2008 rule book i was reading, i know that the ncaa recruiting rules and eligibility rules are really spread out over many documents. there may be more rules else where but they are not easy to find on the net
completely unrelated: i am listening to the espn mens basketball podcast from any katz and apparently vanderbilt should have been an elite eight team because of a missed travelling call- has any one heard about this? i was shocked to learn this (heavy on the sarcasm)

I guess then, 2007, that I'd like the blue and gray to be more prominent or obvious -- like say UCLA's home whites -- rather than the ones we've got. If we have to have them -- and maybe we do -- then it'd be nice to feature blue and gray a bit more.

Hey, I prefer the grey as well. I just think the reaction here is surprising, even by Hoyatalk "they can take my R&R Part II but they cannot take my freedom" standards.

Well, thats his right, but the jerseys should be the actual school colors, the ones that the alumni want to represent them and the university, not some fashion statement. Having said all this, I'm ok with them as long as we only wear them once a year, and that one time is not for a big, important game.

After four pages of discussion, we come back to... BURN THEM! Nice white, gray and blue uni's for the home team, I think that makes sense

If you go to ESPN.com and look at photos you can clearly see that letters are navy blue for the people who didn't see the uniforms up close...

We should NEVER wear white, black or teal. White is NOT one of our school colors, you should never wear a color that isn't one of your school colors. And we don't need to join the pedestrian legions of schools adding black as a school color to push jersey sales....sheesh, even Harvard has done that. (MOVED FROM LOCKED THREAD) White is one of our school colors and any other college team, and just remember we never wore black in our uniforms...wowwwww colorblind?

Ok, Im sorry, but Im really starting to get frustrated, why did you just have to make 2 posts? Couldn't you have said both of those things in ONE POST?
Also, yes, the jerseys did have blue on them, but white IS NOT a color of ours and hopefully that was the one time they appear all year long. I'm glad you liked them, maybe they will start selling them somewhere so you can buy one shut up and the rest of us can enjoy watching our team play in GRAY.
