the team won't be wearing the whites again anytime soon . . . I think they look fine, but they'll be back in the gray at home next time, don't you fret. (the whites will be stored deep in some dark corner of McDonough next to those black road uniforms from the Esh era... (now those were ugly)). I hope you're right. On their own the whites don't look bad - they're sharp and classy. The problem is that they're too generic. How many teams in NCAA basketball wear white home uniforms with blue writing on them? Tons. How many wear grey home uniforms? Not too many. We are Georgetown, we wear grey. They didn't even have blue writing. It was black, since that's a school color. White, black, and a little gray. I've worked in the sports world, so I know how things work. Black is the hottest color in sports merchandise. We all get it. If this was a merchandising play, I'd be somewhat cool with it. If it was publicized before hand or the bookstore had been selling them, I'd understand. Gotta make $$. However, the white uniforms aren't on sale anywhere. The bookstore still didn't even have the gray jerseys on sale at the game (don't know if they are selling them at Leavey). According to Muir, we are now an all-Nike school. As one, things like this will happen. (Although I don't see the point of this since they aren't selling the uniforms anywhere. Although there is precidence with the retro uniforms worn by the 2003-04 team that weren't sold.) I just don't know why the athletic department can't publicize things, like one-time white uniforms or something like that. Then there wouldn't be a three page long post here. Without context provided by Nike/athletic department/Eastbay/etc, this comes off as the athletic department and basketball office undermining the movement to re-emphasize gray and blue as the school colors. Hopefully we see these for sale somewhere (making sense of all of this) and they become a rarely worn third uniform option like the once-worn black uniforms.

The White Uniforms represent everything that went wrong with the program for a very specific period of time when someone not named Thompson was coaching the team. A throwback to the days of Ewing, Sr. would have been acceptable - that was not what these were. They were ugly and reminiscent of the previous white jersey's we had. Never, ever wear them again.

i thought the white uni's looked fresh Me too. They looked like fresh garbage. SPH has it right. The white jersey is the emblem of an era of mediocrity and irrelevance.

Most team wear white for home uniforms...is there that much of a problem about some fresh uni's? Is it that bad? Everyone else had their home white uni's on...George Mason, Maryland and whomever else...

We should NEVER wear white, black or teal.
White is NOT one of our school colors, you should never wear a color that isn't one of your school colors. And we don't need to join the pedestrian legions of schools adding black as a school color to push jersey sales....sheesh, even Harvard has done that.

For the last time, "most teams wear white" is not a reason why we should wear white. At Georgetown we wear gray. We are blessed with a pair of school colors that allows us to wear one as a home uniform and one as a road one. Gray is a light enough color to contrast with the darker uniforms the visitors will be wearing. Thus it satisfies the reason for wearing white, and it gives our team a unique look that most schools do not have.

With the same 2 or 3 supporters of the white unis posting several times, there is an illusion that there is a significant number of people who don't mind them. I am pretty sure the real number is 2% tops. Whatever happened to the poll function on this message board?

The bottom line is that Nike gets more of a say than anyone on this message board or anyone in McDonough. Nike pays handsomely for the right to tell us that we have to wear an alternate jersey once in a while. Clearly, they wanted to see if it was worth getting some white Hoya jerseys on the shelves in time for the holiday shopping season.
The answer is no.

Does hoyafoeva work for Nike or a sports marketing company? I can't believe someone would take the time to post 10 times in support of white uniforms. Or perhaps he/she is with the fashion police. And to write that true fans aren't supporting Hoyas in white is just plain wrong. We all support the team. We just want them to wear the school colors. And can anyone find a jersey for sale on the Internet that isn't Roy's #55 in navy blue? I would love to buy a Ewing Jr. jersey in gray if I could find one. Nike is doing a poor job of selling jerseys period. Try promoting the gray ones first before attempting a new color scheme.

Seriously, what the hell is up with this stream of consciousness, Instant message style of posting. Put all your freaking thoughts in one post so you dont have to make 3 in a row. AND FINALLY, NO, HOME UNIS DO NOT EQUAL WHITE UNIS. NOT AT GEORGETOWN!!!
There are 2 of you who like them and about 50 who absolutely hate them, I think that says all there is to be said.

Nodak should come out of retirement to pen an anti-white uniform protest song, reminiscent of the late 60's.
That, or sing about the disaster that is the white uniforms set to the tune of "The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald."
Either way, they're ugly. And the stream of consciousness posts have to go, although they do give hoyafoeva the inside track on the "next hoyaeighties/baselinejournal" label...

not in the nfl or nhl and per the NCAA home jerseys for mens basketball must be "light" in color and away jerseys must be "dark". white gray or periwinkle it doesn't matter. and really just because everybody else does it doesn't mean its a good idea, didnt they teach you about peer pressure in elementary school
