Losing to UMass in the Dome has gotta hurt. Especially to the 'Cuse troll inhabiting the Hoyachat room tonight.
This looks to be one of Magoo's finer defensive teams, doesn't it?

UMass pulls ahead late, 107-100. Another poor finish for the BE in non-conference.
Eric Devendorf picks up three fouls (two intentional) in the last 14 seconds of this game.

BC beat Michigan 77-64 Maryland beat Illinois 69-61
UMass beat Syracuse 107-100 at the Carrier Dome. things got a little wild at the end (dorf with two intentional fouls to foul out at the end of game, and UMass player T'ed up for talking to crowd)

Frustrating because you know the Cuse will play at an entirely different intensity level against us.
Boheim simply can not motivate his teams to make a consistent effort on defense. Even if I attended Syracuse and lived in the city, I would have a hard time really respecting the program--a fact that the better Cuse fans (and you run into a number of the old timers every year at the BET) freely acknowledge. As much as they hated JT II they respected how hard his teams played and feared playing us in the biggest games. They now have total respect for JT III and why not. III has won over the knowledgeable UConn fans too who wonder whether Calhoun has lost the ability to lead kids to play their best.
Meanwhile Al Skinner keeps trucking at BC with a win at Michigan albeit over a poor Wolverine five.
Speaking of other games of interest, I am looking forward to the doubleheader at the Garden Saturday with Zags v. UConn in opener and BC v. PC in second game. Big East loyalties vs. Jesuit ties. I intend to root for Big East teams, but I am not sure how I will feel when the game is on the line.

That UMass team with Camby is really good.
Oh, wait, those guys don't play for UMass any more.
Awww, poor Syracuse.

I thought those UMass teams legally do not exist since they were running a university-atm for their players.

BC beat Michigan 77-64 Maryland beat Illinois 69-61 UMass beat Syracuse 107-100 at the Carrier Dome. things got a little wild at the end (dorf with two intentional fouls to foul out at the end of game, and UMass player T'ed up for talking to crowd) Watched the game and it was beyond entertaining--and not just with some exciting offense: 1. Cheddar Bob goes nuts in the last 5 minutes of the broadcast--last 14 seconds--he ends up screaming at someone--couldn't tell if it was a teammate, Boeheim, or Hopkins. Ends up sitting by Bernie Fine and still dropping F-Bombs everywhere and irate. 2. The Big kid for Cuse elbows Ricky Harris of UMass in the back as he's excited that game is about to be over--and after another Cheddar Bob dirty foul--and Harris responded by CLAPPING--towards Onaku. Got T'd up--but seeing replay--he didn't do anything wrong. 3. Nobody played a lick of defense in this game and Donte Greene thinks he's Carmelo Anthony--he's not-although he's a fantastic prospect--he needs to be around glass/paint more and he floats around 3pt line. 4. Anytime Scoop Jardine comes into a game--pressure him--he can't handle the ball at all. 5. Paul Harris is a schoolboy legend--and will be a fine college player--by time he's a SR--problem is he thinks he's a college legend now. UMASS tore them up late and was shooting lights out--former Kentucky guard Travis Ford is their coach and their style of play is more reminiscent of the exciting style Pitino installed in Lexington then Pitino's current team or any other team who has tried to duplicate it.
