I love Barker truisisms - "Some might call Huggie Bear shady, but he's a winner."

I like this line from coach: "Even the same guys are totally different parts. [Sophomore forward] Vernon Macklin, for instance, is a totally different player this year than he was last year"
That sounds like good news

I think this is the most impressive and significant line in the story:
"Led by fourth-year starting point man Jonathan Wallace, whose resume features more starts than any other Division I player (102), the Hoyas feature a seasoned cast coming off the added experiential bonus of a Final Four appearance."
That is the kind of factual nugget that stems from really *knowing* the team you cover -- Camille would benefit from talking with Barker. Jon Wallace - most starts of anyone in D1!!! that is absolutely awesome!
And, I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I can barely contain myself waiting to see how Roy plays -- it is almost unfair b/c expectations are so high -- but i am just so excited to see the 7'2 man-child in action for his senior year
Edit: damn! E9 - talk about lack of respect??

Uhh, Brasky, the Post had that same stat in their BE rundown (page E9 today). 'Fraid you can't add that one to your anti-Camille dossier.

Two things jumped out at me:
"Harlem" as Jessie's nickname "Smooth" as Freeman's potential nickname

What about Barker's line: "the Excalibur of experience." I am not sure that makes any sense at all, but it was fun to read. Otherwise, a very enjoyable Barker Column. Some may go on about journalistic principles (Kind of funny since we are reading the Moonies' own Washington Times), but Barker is far and away the best read for Hoya stories we have ever had. How about these graphs: The most remarkable thing about Georgetown heading into the season isn't who's missing; it's who's back. The Hoyas return four starters and eight of the nine principal pieces from the squad that swept both Big East titles en route to a 30-7 campaign and the school's first Final Four showing since 1985.
"We do have a lot of experience," said Wallace, who led the Big East in 3-point shooting last season at 49.0 percent. "We have quite a few guys who understand what it takes to win in the league and to win in the postseason. You hope there aren't a lot of situations you haven't seen before. But part of getting older is understanding you can always know more and get better."
I admit... I love that kid Wallace. I never thought I would say this but, He is one of my all time favorite Hoyas. Why? He's not the most athletic or quickest. He doesn't jump the highest. He's not your typical Hoya monster on D. Doesn't fill the highlights reel - though he has had his moments. But he is so steady, determined, poised, confident and reliable -- and Smart! 4 more days till the Season starts! YEAH!
