The leaves in the nation's capital are finally turning, and the crisp air gives pause to those who would otherwise be willing to wait outside the door in the Philly Pizza line, and that can mean only one thing: another basketball offseason is coming to a close. In many respects, this has to be counted as a good offseason; Roy has returned to carry the Hoyas on his Atlas-like shoulders, JTIII is putting down his roots (we hope) in DC, and said coach has continued his magical ways on the recruiting trail. In the context of our beloved section of the internet-machine, however, let's be honest: the offseason couldn't end fast enough.
In the intervening months since those glorious days in March, HoyaTalk has been host to endless inane hypotheticals, countless debates over this or that high school boy, and the odd fawning post marking the momentous passage of...gasp!...another year in a poster's life. Without so much as one jump ball to consume our attention, posters are at their worst during the offseason, be it to shred another's facilities speculation with one's own, better, facilities speculation or be it to bring some sort of sarcastically humorous relief (whether it hits the mark or not) to our own lives as we come to the pathetic realization that we can't stay away from this board (guilty).
Joyous November has arrived, though, and now is the spring of HoyaTalk's content! To all the posters who joined in April and have raced to 500 posts, consisting only on chafe of zoning threads and Lic's proclamations that it's "Awfully quiet around here," just imagine how many items you can fill the internet-machine with now that you'll have something about which to talk!
That's right, HoyaTalk comes to life in November. Debating game previews, predictions, and analysis, trash-talking Syracuse fans at the drop of a hat, eviscerating fellow Hoyas for daring to entertain us with an inferior product during half time: this is the true lifeblood of this board.
Post here what you hate about the offseason, and let me be the first to say,
Welcome back HoyaTalk!
(I'm embarrassed at my attachment to this internet-machine message board.)
