no excuses - what will our BE record be and what will our regular season record be?
Not sure about the regular season as a whole - but i'm going with 14-4 or 15-3 in conference.

Ok let's do this formally:
November
10 William & Mary - W (but don't look that great) 15 Michigan - W (look much better) 21 @ Ball State - W (Muncie burns) 28 @ Old Dominion - W (revenge)
December
1 Fairfield - W 5 vs. Alabama - W 9 Jacksonville - W 15 Radford - W 22 @ Memphis - L 29 American - W 31 Fordham - W
January
5 @ Rutgers - W 8 @ Depaul - W 12 Connecticut - W 14 @ Pittsburgh - L 19 Notre Dame - W 21 Syracuse - W 26 @ West Virginia - W 31 @ St. John's - W
February
2 Seton Hall - W 5 South Florida - W 9 @ Louisville - L 11 Villanova - W 16 @ Syracuse - L 18 @ Providence - W 23 Cinncinatti - W 27 St. John's - W
March
1 @ Marquette - L 8 Lousiville - W
24-5 with a record of 14-4 in conference. That's conservative though - if we win a game that we aren't favored in then we can easily go 13-3 in conference and 25-4.

I think we'll lose 2 OOC games. Memphis and Michigan/Alabama. I also think we'll lose at Marquette, at Louisville and one of the Syracuse games. That makes a 15-3 record in conference and an overall record of 24-5.
Granted, like our "friends" on the ND board, when I look at the schedule I can see the Hoyas winning every game, but I don't think they'll go undefeated this year. So since we're going to lose some, these are my predictions.

We're getting UMich at a good time. Very early game of the year for them with a new coach we understand about as well as their own players do.

November @ Memphis - W @ Pittsburgh - W @ Marquette - W If we win those games, we're likely a #1 seed.

what's your point? We will be a #1 seed. just that i didn't have the balls to call it, too many years under the previous administration.

Frankly I'm sure we'll loose one more BE game, but i just can't call one for us to loose. I'd say either Cuse of Nova, but we're not loosing at home, and with a hoya blue road trip to cuse i'm fairly confident will win there too. Plus i can never pick us to lose to cuse, so my gut tells me we'll drop one game we should win early so i picked Alabama, and another towards the end. but since both lousiville games are towards the end i couldn't pick us loosing too many down the stretch. I'll try to keep my most optimist fantasies under raps to not jinx anything.

I'm guessing you meant "lose to 'cuse"?

Otherwise, that looks about what I'm thinking. A win at Memphis and we'd be #1. Scariest game? At the Dunk in Providence after the emotionally-draining pounding of 'Cuse.

I actually had us loosing at the dunk originally but didn't like the idea of us losing again after losing @ Lousiville. Last year we had a stretch of victories and needed that wake up game @ cuse. but It doesn't seem like we'll need that this year with the way the schedule is set up, but if i had to pick another game for us to lose this would be it.

I don't know - if HB can pull off this president's day road trip parlay of Cuse and then Providence - that might give us and advantage (not in the Dome of course, but in the Dunk - it might).

I bet we drop 2-3 OOC games and 2-5 BE games, leaving us with a record between 25-4 and and 21-8. My gut (and head) tell me that we'll be on the more winning end of that, so my prediction is 14-4 BE, 23-6 overall, but admittedly that's pretty conservative and my heart says we'll be more like 25-4/15-3. Then again, we could go on an absolute tear through the Big East like last season....
And I sincerely hope we don't lose or loose to Cuse this season.

I'm an old guy who has been making pre-season picks for the past 30 years. When the hoyas are good, I look like a genius. When they are not so good, I look like an idiot. In a preseason pool last year, I was almost perfect. I missed on ODU and had the Nova games reversed. I had us winning the BEC and the BEC Tournament. I had us making it to the final four and loseing in the semi.
That being said, there is no way I can do this again but here goes... November
10 William & Mary - W 15 Michigan - L 21 @ Ball State - W 28 @ Old Dominion - W
December
1 Fairfield - W 5 vs. Alabama - W 9 Jacksonville - W 15 Radford - W 22 @ Memphis -L 29 American - W 31 Fordham - W

5 @ Rutgers - W 8 @ Depaul - L 12 Connecticut - W 14 @ Pittsburgh - W 19 Notre Dame - W 21 Syracuse - W 26 @ West Virginia - W 31 @ St. John's - W
February
2 Seton Hall - W 5 South Florida - W 9 @ Louisville - L 11 Villanova - L 16 @ Syracuse - W 18 @ Providence - W 23 Cincinnati - W 27 St. John's - W
March
1 @ Marquette - W 8 Louisville - W
24 and 5
