This is a major blow to their hopes at winning the Big East, although I believe those hopes ended when Hibbert announced he was coming back for senior year. It's a shame because I was looking forward to re-match between Padgett and Hibbert (We all remember how Hibbert schooled him last year). Best of luck to Dave on his recovery. sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=3119221

Man, I wish we could institute a similar policy at our arena when West Virginia comes to play us. Even last year when our local fans were coming out to home games, the percentage of Mountaineer fans at that West Virginia game was close to 50%. Although it certainly made the "Go HOOOOOME Mountaineers" chant that much more enjoyable.

I concur on this one. I'm dying to know who the Athletic Department contracted to write that music for the video. Great stuff!

Brown is coached by Jim Robinson, another in a long line of Carril disciples. Former Princeton player and a long time assistant for Carmody at Northwestern. Another interesting note: Robinson is Barack Obama's brother-in-law

sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3098361The funeral is being held on Saturday. If Jeremiah decides to play on Saturday, let's make sure to give him extra crowd support and encouragement. However, I would not be surprised if Coach Thompson III allows/convinces Jeremiah to go to Illinois for the funeral. In that case, we'll be seeing a lot of Austin and Tyler (with Nikita and Chris unavailable).

Forgive me if this was common knowledge, but I stumbled upon this in a Washington Times blog that was published about a week ago: video1.washingtontimes.com/d1scourse/2007/10/a_scheduling_easter_egg_hunt.htmlAccording to Hoyabasketball.com, Driesell only coached with Esherick during the 2003-2004 season- Esherick's final year. I'm sure this scrimmage provided JTIII an excellent opportunity to see the talent he would be working with the following year.

With all due respect, DFW, do you have anything other than doubts? Over the last four or so years on this forum I recall these opinions you shared: -you had doubts over whether Georgetown would fire Esherick (buy him out) after giving him a contract extension. -you had doubts that the school actually cared about basketball -you had doubts about the hiring of III (specifically because you wanted a more broad search for candidates first) -you had doubts if us Hoya fans had realistic expectations concerning what a good coach could do with the Hoya program giving the lack of facilities and lack of funds directed towards the program -you had doubts if III could successfully keep up with the big state BE schools, including the new ones that were about to join the conference; as a result you had doubts if he could bring in the type of players (in other words out-recruit the big boys) that could return Georgetown to a top 20 program status. -you had doubts if the administration would actually renegotiate a good enough contract (pony up enough more money) to get III to sign an extension. Without question many of your doubts have merit. There are a lot of things the school/administration has to prove before people can say the program is in the clear. Obviously you have your finger on the pulse of a lot of things that are going on involving Georgetown and you have a fine understanding of its history in terms of not getting things done. And no one can deny your love for the school and program. But it seems you always seem to be negative concerning any topic regarding the future and possibilities of the program. Is it too much to ask to have some faith every once in awhile and be a bit more positive about things perhaps turning out right? [Applause] [/Applause]

I count 3 dribbles to get from one end of the court to the other. None within the 3-point line! He's got a very big stride.

So all we need is the OGB approval to start fundraising right? Fundraising is not contingent on zoning--this could have, in theory, started months ago. Given how Georgetown struggles to secure major gifts, this may prove to be the biggest hurdle of them all. However, there has been a rumor floating since Ted Leonsis held that big party at his mansion for the team that he would make a major donation towards the development of a practice-only facility on campus. That being said, it would be nice if the University would get other alumni involved immediately after this gets approved for construction.

Based on the large news item about MSG today, I was thinking this thread was going to be about something else.... possibly involving Stephon Marbury and interns.

I don't know. To be fair, we haven't seen a JTIII-coached team without Jeff Green starting, so I'm not quite sure what to expect from this season. Hit the nail on the head. I think people on this board need to calm down with the "righteous indignation" about pre-season rankings that <GASP> rank us below #5. Don't get me wrong, we're going to be good this year and we'll win whole truckload of games in the Big East. However, neither we nor the media know what to expect of us at the beginning of the season. People on this board seem to have short term memory about how our season began last year. If you want to get a laugh, look at some of the threads on this board from December and early January. I'm not going to be shocked if we take a couple lumps this year too and in that case we will not be in the top 5 at the beginning of the year. However, JTIII has shown over the past 3 years that he gets his teams playing their best basketball at the END of the season when it matters most. In other words, I don't envision us starting in the top 5 or spending most of the season in the top 5, but by the end we will be there.

I just don't care enough to check to make sure that in my haste i've spelled things correctly. Who cares, you all know what i mean. I usually use the quick reply so i don't have the spell check right there in front of me and i don't reread my posts before or after posting them usually. there the errors have been fixed. are you happy now? No, I'm not. You still have us "loosing" around. By the way, there was a well known game show on T.V. that involved charades being played out by drawing on paper. That game show was NOT called "Win, LOOSE, or Draw," it was "Win, Lose, or Draw". These two words have very different meanings!

Frankly I'm sure we'll loose one more BE game, but i just can't call one for us to loose. I'd say either Cuse of Nova, but we're not loosing at home, and with a hoya blue road trip to cuse i'm fairly confident will win there too. Plus i can never pick us to loose to cuse, so my gut tells me we'll drop one game we should win early so i picked Alabama, and another towards the end. but since both lousiville games are towards the end i couldn't pick us loosing too many down the stretch. I'll try to keep my most optimist fantasies under raps to not jinx anything. i'm glad you're not picking us to "loose" to cuse, since you don't want our female roadtrip attendees to come back with STD's. I'm guessing you meant "lose to 'cuse"?

I know he had some terrible games in the FIBA Pan-Am, but Scottie Reynolds deserves to be on this list. I thought maybe I missed his name, but I read the thing 5 times and couldn't find him. Kind of pathetic of this blog if you ask me.

On a semi-related note, I was visiting Birmingham, 'bama earlier this week and I ventured into the famed Dreamland ribs joint where I saw a most startling site: "**crummy signature** SYRACUSE HEAD COACH" in big, bold block letters on their wall of fame thingy deary me, I thought. under closer inspection, it was none other than the rat himself, Jim Boeheim who had eaten at this fine establishment and left an autograph on display. It was extremely important to me the Georgetown players and staff visit Birmingham, beat the tar out of 'bama , try some god ol' southern bbq and leave at the very least a JT3 / GEORGETOWN HEAD COACH signature. I've already emailed the athletic department. Mr. Magoo must have signed that wall during a recruiting visit because he doesn't leave New York for basketball unless he is going to a Big East or NCAA Tournament city and I'm sure that Birmingham is neither.
