Pitt ekes one out over PC... ekes is right. What a crusher for Providence. Gotta love the March buzzerbeater! I really felt awful for Providence. They have been on a brutal stretch of games, have lost 9 in a row (I think that is what they said) and could have really used this win to give them something positive. Felt the worst for Keno Davis. They cut to him immediately after the shot went down at the buzzer and it was heartbreaking (really).

Cheering for Marquette tonight against Louisville. If they lose tonight, they would have one more game against Syracuse, and I doubt they will beat them again. That would enable us, if we win, to lock up the 6th spot. I would love to play WVU again with Freeman and on a neutral court. For this to be the case, I think we would also need ND to lose again. If ND goes 2-0 this week (no small task with UConn and at Marquette), then there would be three of us at 10-8. All three teams would be 1-1 in that mini-conferemce, so I think Lville would get the 6 as a result of having beaten the Cuse, and then we would drop to the 8 because we lost to ND. In other words, we want ND to lose - preferably twice in the next 4 days.

This is great - and really does help put things in perspective. Thanks for sharing.

Dan. I am not sure that I agree that a noon Wednesday game is the most likely spot for the Hoyas. If Georgetown beats Cincy, isn't a 7 seed and a 7 o' clock game on Wednesday more likely? I think that is right. Based on my calculations, if we win Saturday, we will be the 7 unless ND wins twice this week (in which case we would be the 8) or Lville loses twice (in which case we would be the 6). If both those things happen, I think we stay at the 7 (I think all three teams would be 1-1 in mini-conference, Lville would be the 6 based on the win over Cuse, we would be the 7 based on our win over Nova - unless of course WVU passes Nova, in which case we would be the 8 because ND beat WVU). If we lose Saturday, things could (but not necessarily) get really ugly in terms of BET seeding and having to play a game on the dreaded Tuesday. There is no worse feeling that being drunk at 4 p.m. on a Tuesday with your team just knocked out of the BET (and by definition beaten by a bad team) and $350 worth of basketball tickets in your pocket for games that you no longer have any interest in attending and that your idiotic GU roomate will only let you sell to someone the group knows so as not to cause problems for his boss who is a fat cat SJU booster that scored the great seats for the group. I just don't want to go there again. Beating Cincy is so important on so many levels.

If we end up 9-9 it's possible we play on Tuesday, isn't it? Yes.

I know some will be excited to see another thread bashing the team, but unfortunately this is not the case. I am embarrassed to be a hoya fan, not because of how badly the team played tonight, but because of how pathetic our fans are. Yes, we played badly tonight, but we never ever ever gave up. We were on the road, with our best player in the hospital on senior night and we still battled back. Its fine to critize a team after playing so badly, but most of you are going completely overboard, and really need a reality check. Teams aren't here to please fans and make them happy. Regardless of what many of you seem to think they aren't here for YOU. You are supposed to be there for THEM. Fans are suppossed to be here to SUPPORT their team. Not trash them because they aren't happy with their result. As long as my Hoya's haven't quit, I won't ever quit on them. If you can' support a team through good times AND bad, go cheer for Syracuse, their #1 in the country. Maybe Duke is more to your liking. I'm a Georgetown fan and as long as they give it their all, it doesn't matter what bonehead move they make on the court or how many freethrows they miss, I'll love and cheer for them anyway. The same is not true for a lot here. You just don't get it. While there are certainly a handful of posters who only come on the Board after losses and start negative threads - and I suppose you could question their motives (I suspect they are very serious fans as opposed to trolls) - most of the posts tonight are from incredibly dedicated fans who are obssessed with Georgetown Basketball and who post repeatedly after wins, as well as losses (not to mention during the 7 months the team isn't even playing). People are very frustrated about the play of the team the last month and they come here to talk about it. So what if people go overboard, as long as they comply with Board rules. We've looked like crap lately, and that is hard to take after looking so good for portions of the year. I confess I am the worst about wild swings when dealing with wins and losses. After L'ville, I was on top of the world and thinking we were (back) on our way to great things. Saturday evening I thought we sucked and wondered if we would win another game. Please don't equate frustration and disappontment with the poor performance with a lack of support for the team or the players. It makes no sense and is getting really old.

Not me... LET'S GO HOYAS! I meant they make it hard to be fired up for 2 days; by 7:00 tonight we'll all get there. No need to explain yourself, most of us understood exactly what you meant. If we won Saturday I would have spent the rest of the weekend on the Internet reading everything I could find about college basketball and would have been up until 2 a.m. last night reading the WVU boards. Instead, we lose and look awful and I don't start to get excited/fired up about tonight's game until mid-morning today. Doesn't make us bad fans, I don't think!

15) Only the lives of the players, coaches, and their families are directly affected by the performance of the team I would argue this is false. Take, for example, me. The joy after wins (which often lasts for days) and despair after losses (which often lasts for days) seems to have a very direct impact on my life! I know many others whose lives are similarly impacted by the performance of this particular team. It is sad, no doubt, but true.

Yeah, but beating Cincy would probably end all chances of us having to do that, right? Let's put it this way, if we lose to ND, WVU and Cincy, we probably shouldnt even care about byes too much anymore Yes, if we win one of the next two, I think that guarantees us top 8 since we have the tie breaker over UConn and the Hall. My concern is if we finish 9-9, which I would put as just as likely as 10-8 and more likely than 11-7. Really hope I am wrong on that.

Think we are officially at a point now where all we can care about is winning our own games, hunh? Even at 11-7, we dont control our own destiny for even the 5th seed. Sounds about right - although I am now focused on other games for purposes of the single bye. Starting to think we might want Mquette and Lville to win tomorrow rather than lose so that teams that can mathematically still finish better than us (i.e., SH and UConn) lose. Having to play on Tuesday would be the ultimate disaster.

Why do we insist on having all our big men hedge against guards 40 feet from the basket? All this seems to do is set up an easy shot for the opposition (if the refs don't call a foul on Greg or Julian for bodying up). Who started this "new defensive trend" and why continue doing it when it seldom results in a turnover and almost always results in a defensive mismatch or a big man left wide open underneath? Almost no other play in a game frustrates me more than when Greg and Julian pick up fouls doing this (in particular Greg obviously). I would also be interested in hearing what the intended advantage or benefit is of doing this. Whatever it might be, it rarely if ever works, because only bad things seem to result.

Bye-bye double bye. Man, we got killed! Based on a quick look at the current standings, and having just watched that performance, no bye altogether is also not out of the realm of possibility at all.

How many times have we seen Vee do this in a game? Why doesn't he get more time? Yea, god forbid Vee gets some meaningful minutes.

The defense the last two possession has been so much more active / intense - makes it that much more frustrating.

This is as bad as it gets. Worse. The next 11 minutes of game time may be the most painful to watch of the season. It's agony. Beautiful game plan by Brey by the way.

This is a replay of the ODU game in terms of how we're losing, and the big question is whether we adjust to ND's slowing it down and trying to control the ball/limit our possessions. Given our defensive/rebounding problems, we must generate extra possessions from here on out by pressuring them on the defensive end. Exactly. We need to push it on offense and pressure them much more on D. They want to play slower than we do. Push it!

Harangody listed as out, but still warming up. Are you sure? I just received a report (from our very own Dan McQ) that Harangody is in street clothes?

A BIG win on the road for Georgetown, a 7th win against a team in the RPI top 50 and gets that losing streak off the page. Take care of business with ND and then take a run at WVU for a #4 seed. A BIG loss for Louisville with three really tough games remaining: at UConn, at Marquette, and Syracuse. They could easily drop all three and be playing on Tuesday. Yes on all fronts. 7-4 v. the Top 50 RPI looks VERY good. And Seton Hall is about 52 right now, so we could get to 8-4 if the Hall can get another win or two. Notwithstanding the 9-6 / 5th place, our resume is very strong. I keep seeing the stats on all of these bubble teams and they all seem to be 2-6 or thereabout v. the Top 50 RPI. Really need to keep it going with a W v. ND.

I saw that the line on the game is +4 for Louisville. I am not impressed by Louisville and this line seems to really be a "perception" line. They beat cuse...but I am not impressed by much of their work. At least that is what I am telling myself. I think you mean -4
