The USA Today Coaches poll was just released... Hoyas listed among the "Others receiving votes" category at #30. Villanova (9) and Butler (22) are the only Big East teams in the top 25. Other opponents are Maryland (3), Duke (4), Wisconsin (17), Xavier (35), Providence (42), Marquette (50). sportspolls.usatoday.com/ncaa/basketball-men/polls/coaches-poll/MUST beat the Twerps and end the madness of their #3 ranking.

I thought he was a swing man, played the two and the three. That boy threw down several nasty dunks for us in his time with the Hoyas.

I've tried to keep from getting too hopeful on any of these kids we read about on this board. For whatever reason we've been having trouble hitting on any of our prime targets the past year and a half or so. I think Derrickson and Govan fit the definition of prime targets. Sophomore class isn't too bad, though I don't remember when they committed. Spirit...not to nitpick, as I am just watching all of this from afar and never see the kids til they show up, but I did check out the commitment dates of those two frosh Hoyas, who were great gets. Marcus was Oct 2013 and Govan was May 2014...so its been awhile. I know we snagged Kaleb late and a good prospect for 2017. Just saying the guys the gurus on this board have been all excited about, have been going elsewhere in the past year or year and a half.

Obviously he is good enough to play here. But those academic issues might not make him the best fit in the classroom, unfortunately. Would love to be wrong.

Ray will fit right in on the Lakers if he continues to have unremarkable offensive nights like he did in Hawaii last night - 21 minutes, 5 pts. Ten boards is nice. Team shot 28% and Roy matched Kobe in going 1-5. espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=400830086Hopefully brighter days lie ahead. Roy's offensive issues make absolutely no sense. He works super hard in the offseason with folks like Tim Duncan, is in excellent shape and has all of the necessary shots around the basket. Nonetheless, he shoots a very low pct for a 7 footer shooting close in shots.

Of course I wear Hoya colored glasses, but it still surprises me that Markel and Chris can't get a real crack at the NBA (I know CW had a 10 day contract a couple yrs ago)

With the Big East's poor performance the past couple of years in the Big Dance and on NBA draft boards, the league needs all the good publicity it can get.

Dawkins was very very exciting to watch, and he was fun to watch rooting for him or against him. But, for such an imposing brute force, he really had such a happy, kooky personality...Shaq is the closest thing to him, both physically and personality wise. Obviously Shaq, despite the clowning, worked hard enough on his game to be an all time great.

Is his father on good terms with the program? I recall (could be wrong) that he felt he was not given a chance at the head coaching role once Esh was fired or even a chance to remain as an assistant.

Needless reference to southern state-school football team? I'm having Hifi flashbacks over here. Tell me, Bama: How are you connected to the Internet right now? (e.g., Wifi? Ethernet? Dial-up? Cup-and-string?) I'm not sure that I am as dumb as you seem to think I am. I watch the same games you do, unless I suppose you are either in Italy or a member of the coaching staff. And I offer occasional analysis to the extent that I think I can contribute something. The football reference was merely to underscore that we are a long way from our first game. And, I suppose, it also shows that I can follow multiple sports, even, gasp, a "state school." Bamahoya..I enjoyed the Nick Saban reference, as my dad played Football at Bama! Let me know when they figure out who the qb will be.

I've never seen Marcus, so forgive me if I am way off. But from physical description and the brief clips, he reminds me of JayVaughn Pinkston from Nova.

This hand wringing over whether he is 5 9, 5 11, 6 ft. Whether he can defend the three. How he will fit in with Tre , Kaleb, Jagan Moseley etc. My question is this....what are the chances he ever ends up a Hoya? Someone said earlier, this thread can surely make your head explode. All we need next is for TigerJ to show up claiming him for Memphis.

Welcome Mr. Mosely! When was the last time we had a guard recruit out of high school come in with a reputation as an excellent defender? Rivers, maybe Clark? I can't remember but as a fan who really enjoys watching a good defense I'm thrilled to have him on board. How about Jabril?

Yep. Kind of hit me the same way, actually. Wasn't quite sure what to make of it all.
