Sounds like someone in the physics department needs to make a noah plus machine that measures not only angle but also backspin and teaches players consistency while also distracting with sound, motion etc. Then someone at law school needs to make sure it doesn't violate any patents and then we can have 90+ percent free throw shooters.

I completely disagree with RDF. I also believe the replay at the end of the first half showed a clear reach in foul on Otto. I also believe the replay clearly showed a ref who from behind Sims called a foul he could not have seen and that the replay clearly showed did not occur. Rewatch the 4th foul, no contact whatsoever, Ref called it from behind Sims Back. The only thing he could see was Sim's back! Also if you don't believe the end of the first mugging of Otto was a foul then not sure how you could call Sims 5th foul either. As I noted elsewhere, this is not helpful since it doesn't change anything but Refs did very much change this game.

I agree with those who support JTIII and the direction of the program. I know it is not helpful but I think we were playing 5 on 8. While I could see the first two charges being called that on Sims, the reality is he was the only player they called those on all game Leslie did the same things multiple times and it was never called. The 4th call on Sims was by far the worst. The replay showed there was no contact and the ref who called a foul was behind Sims back where he couldn't have seen body contact. There was also a foul at the end of the half agains Otto Porter where Leslie clearly reached in and mugged Otto and Otto, not Leslie was called for a foul. I know good teams work around bad calls, but it seems to me that the refs succeeded at making it a game we couldn't win by not letting Sims play and distribute the ball. Sorry, know this wasn't helpful but had to vent! Sad thing is they also kept Sims from getting the opportunity to show his defense against any of the other future NBA big men in this years tournament!

While I understand why people are hesitant to play Pitt and Cinci who have both given the team problems the past few years, I feel like the opportunity to play teams that beat us this year is an advantage since it is harder to beat a team multiple times in the same season if the two teams are even close in skill levels. I believe in 85, the loss to Nova was the third meeting of that season. If we get work done and get to play Marquette again (assuming they win and we win), I expect an outcome more like the first meeting, but first there are a lot of games to play. Grudge match number one versus Pitt tomorrow!

Agree with not taking advantage of foul shots, that has been problem all year. Also since getting called with ticky tack fouls, shouldn't we make sure after first five minutes of ticky tack fouls on our end and no fouls despite hacking on their end that we take a lesson from the untouchables and make sure every foul counts!

I think it is always better to play someone who beat you the time before if it is on a neutral floor. Playing Pitt, Cinci, Syracuse and Marquette would create a chip on the shoulder situation for every game. Nothing wrong with that!

Press the pressers, press the pressers, oh did I say press the pressers? Agree terribly one sided foul calls even more egregious than at Syracuse and that's saying alot. Looks like we probably get to have a second chance to play the teams we lost to again this year!

Agree no more articles. Perhaps this will lock it up! If 1987 was Reggie and the miracles, should hoya blue make up JC and the miracles shirts if we win the BE tournament?

If at the start of the season someone had said that Hank Sims would play almost 30 minutes a game without fouling out and that Jason Clark would be in a position to pass Austin Freeman for number of Three point shots, I would never have believed it. While they did not get the spotlight before now, the light sure seems to shine very nicely on them this season. Thanks for letting us all be confident again heading into March!

Most years I would hope Marquette beats Cinci since then we should be guaranteed the double bye if we beat Marquette but this year I want Cinci to beat Quette since I am confident we will beat Quette in their house and then we would be the two seed for the BE tournament!

I agree shut it down but as an aside, has Syracuse played a top 25 team outside of New York State? Somehow their RPI strength of schedule is high despite playing no significant away games. Now I understand how Duke always has high RPI strength of schedule.

If he is 19 this year he may still be growing even for part of next season, although I have not seen his growth plates so this is all conjecture. Still can you imagine his rebounding if he gets even 1/2 to 1 inch taller or gets another 1/2 inch on his wingspan? While he is young compared to many basketball players, he is 6 months older than Roy Hibbert was his freshman year and about the same age as a freshman Jeff Green. For comparison to other schools, OJ Mayo was a 21 year old freshman.

Agree, in best case scenario that this is a game where Trawick, Whittington and Hopkins can get some time, but need to not take DePaul for granted this year. It has been many Big East seasons since they had a winning record even out of conference and they have one this year. Attendance probably shouldn't be a problem there are still plenty of lower level tickets on Stub Hub and even the DePaul Box office. (Stub Hub tix are cheaper.) While Melvin is there best player, Pitt found out they have several good players this year. Still, if we rebound and protect the ball and shoot and defend we should win. Like South Florida and Rutgers have shown us this is no longer a gimme and they are starting to take some pride in their home court.

I am a physician. Know enough not to hypothesize that every time a player looks a little off that it is from a concussion although some of the hard fouls allowed can be concerning. Still, concussions are serious and I hope Georgetown Athletics is baselining all our student athletes and not letting them have contact until they are fully recovered. I agree that Starks seemed back to being a little tentative with his shot rather than being horribly off with his shot which would seem to suggest that not having as long to get planted like in our earlier games may be affecting his willingness to take the shot against better defenses. Louisville was a great game for Starks but remember earlier in the year Clark said he had to encourage Starks to take those shots. Seems like Starks needs Clark in his ear again. Cahill reffing the game doesn't surprise me that it seemed every time a St. John player ran into Sims whose feet were on the ground with outstretched arms, Sims was called for the foul. I also thought there was another phantom baseline out of bounds call on Porter for a second game in a row.

Glad to hear they are baselining the players hopefully in all the contact possible sports including basketball, football, lacrosse, soccer etc. The best concussion tests include both cognitive and reaction time assessments and all possible contact should be avoided until all measures have returned to baseline. Given the depth we have to our bench this year, if Starks has to sit out a few games until fully recovered it is probably as good a part of the big east season as we could hope for a key player to be out. Also wondering if there is any word on Adams?

Have to agree with Boz, don't take anything for granted in the Big East. DePaul, South Florida, Rutgers, St. John's can all beat any team on a given night if their shot is falling and the opposing team's is not. There is not a NJIT team left to play against and even NJIT stayed near us for a half. Furthermore this team has shown an ability to drop a 10 point lead in about 1 minute so no one and nothing should be taken for granted.

Chicago would benefit from a better DePaul basketball program as would the Big East. In DePaul's glory days under Ray Meyer who died about 2 years ago they were the recruiting center for Chicago players. Today the fertile Chicago high school basketball scene sends players all over, very few stay local. DePaul currently has the same disadvantage that Georgetown had prior to the phone booth which is the stadium they play at is far from the school and therefore student attendance is abysmal. The terrible teams they have fielded also does not help under their last coach also does not help! They may be able to turn their recruiting around with their new coach as I know there are enough players from Chicago who would love to stay near home. It is also good to have DePaul in the Big East as when we and other Big East schools recruit chicago players, the opportunity to play in front of your home town is a draw to players. Remember the Tulane game for Greg Monroe. JTII used to play DePaul frequently back in the day, and I have seen more Georgetown DePaul games live then any other Big East team, even before DePaul joined the Big East. Of note while their schedule is not that strong, DePaul this year has their best road record in a decade. I believe unless we can somehow recruit NorthWestern which is very unlikely, there is no better Chicago school to have in the Big East and if DePaul can someday get a NorthSide Chicago venue for their team, they could very rapidly become a competitive basketball team and again become a team Chicagoan's follow.

Louisville beat them by 8 at home so we should beat them by 9. 77-68
