oh, ok. Personally i don't see Green getting a guarentee from either the Celtics or the Bucks. If he doesn't, he will be back. Simple as that

However, at that time he was not projected to be a top 10 pick. Personally, I can not see him coming back if the c's or bucks are blown away via the workouts

Danny Ainge doesn't like 1-player workouts, huh? Bummer...it might sour his view of Jeff.

Danny Ainge doesn't like 1-player workouts, huh? Bummer...it might sour his view of Jeff. So Ainge is essentially saying that all of the players he is interested in drafting should come work out together, play against each other, etc, and then he will draft the best one of the bunch? Isn't being able to differentiate the best from the very good a prerequisite for becoming an NBA front office exec?

I think Jeffs been projected between 5-12 the whole time. It doesnt sound like the Bucks were blown away by Jeff though, the words decent and solid don't sound blown away to me.

Simple as that I don't think teams really ever "guarantee" to a player that they will be drafting him, especially if they are not in the top 3 or 4 spots. A lot can go wrong or change, and the most they can do is tell several players that they would consider drafting them if the situation presents itself on draft day. If Jeff really felt this way, he would have withdrawn back with Roy because no one is going to guarantee him anything.

The really good news is that this process ends with someone close to the Hoyas in Doc.
So either "We're picking you number 5" or "You and my boy go win a championship and polish your face up game in the process" will be coming from a trusted source.
Big weekend for the Hoyas.

Teams do at times guarantee players that they'll pick them..just not this early before the draft. And I would hope Doc tells Jeff to go back to G'town so he and his boy can win a championship....Boston will be there again in the lottery next year so everybody wins, [just not the celtics during the season, right?]

Hey, maybe Green knows that no one is going to "guarentee" him anything this early, and he just said that so he could go through the draft process, and he was really planning on returning all along! We can hope can't we?

Amare Stoudemire was also given a guarantee by the Suns if he would drop all of his other workouts. Daniel Gibson stayed in the draft because Cleveland guaranteed that he wouldn't fall below them in the 2nd round. I think guarantees do happen this early, they just may not here because it's such a deep draft. Teams may want to see how things shake down.

From up in T-Puppie land--they are trading Mike James to Houston for Juwan Howard and the BRAINLESS (refuse to call them anything else) of the Puppies is enamored with any UF player--be it Brewer, Horford, or Noah. Personally, I think they have to think PG now as well--unless they are stupid enough to think Randy Foye can play the position despite not being able to dribble with his left hand or do anything to create offense for others. So I'd say it's highly unlikely they select Jeff at #7.

Sixers are apparently enamored with Spencer Hawes and interested in moving up to get him.
Boston is loaded with players like Jeff Green-but not nearly as good-but a lot of 6'8 Forwards/Wing players.
Minnesota is obsessed with Florida's crew--and if Noah or Brewer are there--they will be Puppies. Which means that Noah will likely be a Puppy.
This is going to get very interesting as we approach the 18th as it really is looking as if it could be a last minute decision when I'd resigned myself to fact Jeff was gone after the public announcement. Sure has made offseason more exciting!
