What do you guys think of the starters/ rotation for next year? Will Wright or Freeman crack the rotation.... Here is my take
If Green and Hibbert Stay (natl champs we will be):
Wright Wallace Summers Green Hibbert
If Only Hibbert Stays: Wright Wallace Summers Ewing Jr. Hibbert
If Only Jeff Stays: Wright Wallace Summers Green Macklin
If Both Leave.. we would need more offense in the lineup: Wright Wallace Freeman Summers Macklin
Break down the 3 scanrios

Wright and Freeman will provide us with the Hoya backcourt to bring us a title, as long as our frontcourt stays together.
Wright, in particular, will give us a true point guard which will help with our turnovers.

We need a PG and wright gives us that , wallace will be a better off guard Huh? What do they have to do to get any credit? Win a national title? Who led the team in assists? Who will have two years in the system? Who is almost guaranteed to be a better defender? Jessie. Chris' advantage initially will likely be shooting and on the fast break. My rotation guesses: If J+R stay: C Hibbert/Macklin F Green/Ewing F Summers/Freeman G Wallace/Wright G Sapp/Rivers With quite a bit of overlap at some positions. Long and short, we go ten deep. If R stays: C Hibbert/Macklin F Ewing/Summers F Summers/Freeman G Wallace/Wright G Sapp/Rivers We won't go quite ten deep if just Jeff jumps as Summers will be forced to play the PF spot at times. I can't see Macklin and Roy on the floor at the same time unless Mack really increases his skill set. If J stays: C Green/Macklin F Ewing/Summers F Summers/Freeman G Wallace/Wright G Sapp/Rivers Same as above. If no one stays: C Macklin/Ewing F Summers/Ewing F Freeman/Summers/Crawford/Spann G Wallace/Wright G Sapp/Rivers

Just as JT3 gave Wallace the opportunity to claim a starting spot as a freshman over a skilled and more experienced upperclassman (Owens), so will he give Freeman and Wright (and Rivers) the chance to beat out Sapp. Sapp had a great season, and if he continues improving at the same rate in the offseason, he'll be tough to ouster -- but by all means let's have this competition.
Wallace is obviously untouchable on the merits, though.

The first five will remain the same, if all stay. Crawford, Freeman, Wright, Rivers, Ewing, V Mack will all be in the mix off the bench.

Wallace is obviously untouchable on the merits, though. Technically Roy took DJ's starting spot, not J-Wall. And regardless, neither Wallace nor Roy unseated DJ as a returning starter. With that in mind, of course, no ones minutes are guaranteed, but as crisp as our offense runs, I can't imagine the any of the freshman starting (at least immediately). And I don't think thats a knock on them, I think they may be more explosive off the bench anyway. DJ was a great player off the bench not because each player in the starting 5 was better tha him (doubtful) but because of the versatility he offered in being able to take out anyone as well as his ability to contribute to the offense immediately with out gettng warmed up. It seems Wright and Freeman combined can fit that mold.

It's hard to say for sure until we figure out who'll be back. I'd also suggest that the starting lineup at the end of the year will be different than the starting lineup at the beginning. It takes some time to really get the hang of III's offense, where "reads" are so crucial. For that reason, the starting backcourt at the beginning of the year will almost definitely be Wallace and Sapp, and the frontcourt will be the same as this year, with Ewing plugging in for Jeff if he leaves and Vern plugging in for Roy if he leaves.
That said, if Austin Freeman isn't starting for us by tournament time next year (barring an injury forcing him to miss any time), I will eat my hat.
I'd guess:
-Jeff will head for the league, Roy will come very close but decide to stay around for his senior year
-The starting lineup on opening day will be Wallace, Sapp, Summers, Ewing, Hibbert
-The starting lineup by the post-season will be Wallace, Wright, Freeman, Summers, Hibbert--though the battle for PT and a starting job between Jessie and Chris W will be an interesting one

SF is 100 pct right. No way a freshman cracks the starting lineup in this system if it can be helped. Remember, it took Crawford's illness and Edge's transfer to get the shoot-happy, bad-passing TO prone Summers into the starting lineup.

But I think it is silly to think a returning starter off a Final Four team working in a complex offense has a less than 50% chance of retaining his job.
