Picking between Jeff and Roy is like trying to pick which of your children to keep if you had to give one up. And we don't even necessarily HAVE to give one up, so why even debate it?

I think people would agree that Jeff is the heart and soul of the team. The Hoyas could go back to the F4 if they lost one of the two. But if they lost both they would be in for a more difficult time. Obviously.

If Roy returns we're pre-season top 5. Jeff is one of the greatest Hoyas ever and we can never replace him. But as long as Roy can anchor the front line, I'll have confidence in the ability of Summers, Macklin, and Ewing to give us a skilled and athletic frontcourt.
And remember our underrated junior-soph starting backcourt becomes an underrated senior-junior starting backcourt bolstered by two AAs and Rivers with a year of off-season workouts.
Both leaving would obviously be a problem. The odd one is Roy goes but not Jeff. That was unthinkable before the tournament but Roy registered 4 double-doubles and 19 and 6 last night while looking every bit a worthy opponent of the #1/#2 pick Oden. Jeff finished on a sour note which for some reason always seems to carry weight in the draft. If that happens, we're still good and highly-ranked but how good depends on Macklin's ability at center.
So it will be interesting to see what these two already great Hoyas decide in the next few months.

If I had to pick, I'd rather have Roy come back. This may just be because of the fact that he's my favorite player, but it's also due to what Giga said: we have a replacement ready for Jeff in Dajuan and PE2. While neither can be expected to fully replace him, I think that they'll be able to cover for him enough that the addition of Austin and Wright will be able to cover the rest. But if Roy leaves, we do not have a replacement for him. Macklin can be a force, but he's only 6'9. The 7 footer from Iowa would replace Roy's size (if we could get him to come here) but he would not be able to replace Roy's experience and offensive skills, at least not as a freshman.

We could replace Jeff more easily than we can replace Roy's defense, rebounding, and post offense.
Obviously, however, I hope both stay.

If only one of Jeff and Roy stay, I bet whichever one does will wear a suit when they recieve the award for best senior player. And if they both stay, the other one will also be in a suit when they accept the award for Nat'l POY.

I think this is simple--I want both to return, but I'll point this out to debate:
Hoyas have won games where Roy has been off or in foul trouble.
When Jeff doesn't take over or is off--they don't win. It doesn't matter how great Roy is, if Green isn't aggressive or playing at a high level--this team can't beat elite teams.
This isn't a knock on Roy either--it's just that Jeff's role in this offense isn't just about him--he makes game easier for other players and it's no coincedence that DaJuan and Pat struggled yesterday--due to Jeff not being as aggressive as he'd been the past 2 months.

Even if only one of them stays, I dont see how we arent pre-season #1. Four of 5 starters + Wright, Freeman and Ewing from a team that just made the Final Four? That is sick...

Both. I agree that we're the preseason #1 if both return. After getting the taste of a championship like that, I hope both want to come back and try to finish the job.
If one or both leaves, though, I have faith that III & co.--with who we have and who we're getting--will adapt and continue to succeed.
But I really, really, really hope that both Jeff and Roy (or at least one) comes back for senior year!

If both return we'd be preseason top 3. Lots of really good teams who could have most or all of their teams back. Florida, UNC, Kansas, OSU. Guys obviously will leave but if we're speculating about Roy and Jeff coming back then you have to speculate on the other teams guys coming back.

Yeah, but the polls are so subjective. The voters will think along the lines of what I said. Of the 4 teams in the Final Four, Georgetown would return the most starters, therefore, they should be #1. I agree, Kansas and UNC would up there, but OSU and Florida will have completely different teams next year for sure.

I guess I'm not fired up about "preseason #1". I'd rather have won it this year--which was there for taking--and all that matters is where you finish--not where you start.

Every other elite team will face a similar question; we won't know how it all shakes out for 2 months.
Both guys should declare for the draft without hiring an agent, as that allows NBA coaches and executives a ~6 week window to provide the guys, JTIII, and their parents with honest feedback about their chances.
