Congratulations to Jeff. Well-deserved accolades are better than no recognition.
However, I think (and hope) that he's happier about being Big East POY, Tourney MVP, on the All-East Regional Team, and leading the Hoyas back to the Final Four. I know I am.

BE gets no respect again. Even the talking heads say that Jeff is the MOST complete player in the country. I guess that's just not good enough. Just remember, He is still playing while Tucker, Law, and Durant are home playing Nintendo-NBA. Jeff just proves EVERY day why he is only the most versatile player in the NCAA this year.

Gotta love Smitty - 1989 Big East Player of the Year

The thing with these awards is that it doesn't always go to who's the most deserving. It's mostly a popularity contest. I use this argument here all the time; Sherman Douglas made 1st team all-America his Sr. Season and Charles Smith made 3rd, yet Charles was the Player of the Year in the Big East. Great point - the reason the BE POY award means way more is that the voting is valid based on Hoops results and seeing the players play for real. Smitty had a bigger year than Sherm and deserved it and so should have been higher than Sherm in all america too. But sherm was already popular before season began, so people went on that - not what really occured. For the all-america, it truly is popularity - how many games of each of the 30 players being voted on have the voters actually seen.

Same reason Jo-Kim is on the 2nd team AA, while Horford is on the 3rd team. Noah may be the emotional leader of the Gators, but no way in hell is he a better basketball player than Horford. (Don't know why I'm saying this, we have our own resident Florida defender, just another example of why this ranking is not all that impressive.) And, of course, neither of them is as good as Jeff Green.

The fact that Green, a guy that does not have crazy stats, can make the AP All-America team speaks volume about the universal respect everyone has for Jeff Green's versatility and the recognition that he is the engine to our 30 wins.
Way to go Jeff!
We all know you are a first-team quality player.

Way to go Jeff! We all know you are a first-team quality player. That is absolutely true. Your style of play will inherently limit the stat potential, but in running it right, a player can be even more "effective" to/for his team. Green is getting plenty of praise down here for sure. One of the few players "like" him in the Country is Corey Brewer, but Green is stronger and more polished. I watch Jeff play and I see what Brewer could become in another year.

Well congratulations are due, but its going to look funny when he enters the NBA draft this year and goes as a lottery pick ahead of ten of those guys (and unfortunately, now that they have made the final four, he will go imho).

How can anyone quibble? Fazekas' buzzer beater in the regional was legendary.. Gray singlehandedly led the Panthers past UCLA If not for Dudley, Arnold gets molested... LMAO!!! I thought it was Arnold that went for help...

Echo everything said above about Jeff. As to Roy - even our dog (who's been chomping on his bone in front of the TV everytime we watch a GU game) knows that Roy Hibbert has played better than Aaron Gray throughout the entire season. If people didn't pencil Roy's name in because they thought he didn't deserve it - then I would have been ok with it. But putting Aaron Gray (who was clearly spanked by Roy during the BET final) without Roy is simply a travesty. Oh well, the silver lining is that Roy will even be more determined to be a better player. GO HOYAS!!!
