Here is the most interesting quote in the article:
"I put it on myself that we need to beat UConn this year," Green said. "I can't go four years of my career in college not beating one team."

1. with 8 blocks agianst nova it's possible he could get a quadrouple double pts, rebounds, blocks, assits. 2. like the quote about getting a degree and beating uconn. maybe we should lose tomorrow so that green has to come back for one more year to beat them.

Man, I love this kid. What a great guy to have as the role model of your program. Classy, team-oriented and every bit as talented as he is nice.
At the end of the year, I'm sure he'll make the right decision for him. If he goes pro, more power to him. If he stays, I will absolutely cherish the fact that I will get to watch his senior year and have a GU degree in common with him. Thanks for being a class act, Jeff.
End Hallmark-Hall-of-Fame-worthy commentary.

Gotta say, "I'd like to have a Georgetown degree. That would be kind of cool," is not the most emphatic way to put it. At least it's nowhere near as emphatic as what Roy's said. Still gotta assume Jeff's outta here, methinks, especially after that Mike Wise column.

Also its not like he had a prepared speech to give, he was responding to a question not going out of his way to appear disinterested.

Isn't it great to have players on your team that you're proud to call your classmates?

now is not the time to worry about soothsaying. All I can say is I have purposely not allowed myself to think about this game all week. I didn't want to get all fired up. I can honestly say that I officially will be useless in everything work-related today as a result of Mr. Green's quote regarding putting it on himself to beat UCONN.
It has been great to watch this guy turn into a player that wants to put the game on his shoulders in close contests! I can remember sitting in the Wachovia Center and telling my younger brother that now is the time for Jeff to carry this team....And he did! Then, to watch him do it last Saturday?!?! IT.IS.ON

Green will look a bit out of place in the NBA when he eventually gets there. He has no tattoos, and he no longer has a distinctive 'do. The braids he once sported are long gone.
"I tell everybody I'm growing up," he said. "I can't be 25 with braids, looking for a job."
This is why I like this guy...

Green is a class act. He handled those questions with aplomb. When the NBA doesn't need him anymore, I'm sure he'll have even bigger opportunities ahead of him. Of course, I'd like him to stay 4 years and get the degree, but if he doesn't, I wish him the best. I have never felt lower than at the Big East Tournament in 2004. We were knocked out and Esh took the team home and didn't even appear at the Hoyas Unlimited meeting in NYC with the other GU coaches. To think that tomorrow we're playing for the Big East regular season championship -- and have the opportunity to kick UConn's rear while doing so is -- is amazing. Jeff has had a lot to do with that (taking nothing from JT3 and his superb staff). Jeff has my eternal gratitude and that of my 6 year old son, who told me he will someday be rooting for whatever NBA team is lucky enough to have Jeff Green as a player. I agree.

What a great article. I am having a battle with one of my Terp fan friends, and he broke out the whole "Georgetown lies to recruits and lets them think it is a black school" garbage yeasterday, which really got me fired up. . . . I feel that the only people that make this argument are WHITE fans of other schools (esp. the Twerps). I am not one to cry racist too quickly, but this smacks of latent racism.
Long story short, after sending him a pic of a georgetown degree, with "This is what recruits see when they come to Georgetown", stats on the Terps abysmal graduation rates, and the Black Enterprise rankings of the best schools for black students, he fell silent.
Today I sent him this e-mail, with "Jeef Green gets it . . ." as the subject line:
I hope Jeff stays, but far be it from me to have a guy turn down MILLIONS of dollars to do what he loves to do. . . . I think his stock will rise next year, and it is in his long term best interests to stay, but either way, he will remain one of my favorite Hoyas, and one of whom Georgetown should be very, very proud.

In this wonderful period of information, if a recruit can't discover that G'Town is not an HBCU, do you really think he's smart enough to attend the university? Not every institution is going to be everything to everybody. Some schools are too black, some schools are too white, some are too liberal, some are too conservative. Don't feel the need to correct everyone that has something negative to say about Georgetown, past or present.

If he comes back, we are pre-season numero uno. I also think he could be a top five pick next year even though he would probably be a top 12 this year. I can't think of many players outside of Oden & Durant that would go before him.
