with his recent play, i do not see how he can not be considered as a top 5 college player in the country. i do not know what players from other countries are entering the draft, so i can not compare him to those players.
currently, what U.S. college players would u take over jeff? i can only come up with 3 and a possible:
1. frenchie as big john calls him AKA noah (i still cant get over esh not offering the kid a schollie even though he basically begged. i guess since noah had ties to big john, esh didnt want him. can u imagine a front court of noah, roy and green? unreal
2. oden
3. durant
possible:
wright of unc
that being said, wouldnt jt3 have to advise jeff to enter the draft? the key word is ADVISE. of course if jeff wanted to come back for his senior year, no one would have any reservations other than BE schools

If he goes, it's been a wonderful and I'm sure he'll represent us well as both a player and person in the NBA. If he doesn't, we win our second straight national title, then he does the above.

Sixer, Jeff does not owe us anything. He's already done more for us than most players ever will. If it is in his interest to leave, it is incumbent upon us to support his decision.

I would put some thought into this, but 'Cuse made my girlfriend cry last march, and I really, really, really, really, really want to beat them. So I'm gonna spend my free time thinking about that game, rather than about what Jeff might do in April.

I would take Green over Noah. Noah's game has stagnated from last year... Jeff keeps getting better in EVERY ASPECT of the game. I've seen more than a few Gator games, and I've never seen Noah pass, handle or move without the ball like Jeff. A fine player, to be sure... but Jeff is easily the most complete player in college right now.
I'd only take Oden over him because he's a physical freak and maybe the next Bill Russell (style-wise, not saying he'll win 5,398 titles), and Durant because he has "tremendous upside potential."

green will do what's right for he and his family...
to answer your question: julian wright, kansas al horford, florida coey brewer, florida Roy Hibbert...don't underestimate the need for 7'2" back-to-the-basket centers al thorton, fsu acie law, texas a&m tyler hansborough, unc
...and probably 3-5 international players
don't get me wrong, green is a beast and i'd take him high in the draft but....there is A LOT of talent coming out this year. A LOT.

I just checked out Durant's stats and he AVERAGES a double double . All these talented freshman made me think about the possiblity if Lebron had done a year at college (Louisville I think) how there would have been some rediculous records on the books

There's no way i would take Tyler Hansbrough or Corey Brewer ahead of Jeff. Hansbrough is a great great college player but he's a tweener as far as the pros are concerned. Brewer is athletic and has good size for a guard but he's not a great shooter. Somebody like B. Wright, yes, i'd take him because of his tremendous upside.

Green would be wise to put his name in (as Bowman did) and get advice about where he'd be likely to be selected and then make an informed decision. He'll certainly have enough people with connections to get an accurate picture of where he'd be slotted.
That said, the next game is Monday night at Syracuse. I am pretty sure he would rather worry about that first. Plenty of time to worry about drafts and leaving early (or not) after the season is over.

One consideration: this year's draft will have a surplus of talent due to it being the first year after the age min in the NBA. Next year should balance out, but I wouldn't be surprised anymore if he stayed, for that alone.

yeah and my post wasn't to suggest that those players are better than jeff green but rather that different talent evaluators can have different opinions...
should green be a top-5 nba pick? sure, maybe, yes, ok, whatever...but maybe not. who knows?
throw in the ny knicks, celtics, etc. who have gm's that make odd picks + the darko factor + the love of the "big" man (hibbs, oden, fazekas, etc) + foreign dudes (there HAS to be like 4 7-foot chinese guys coming) and you just never know what green's actual draft position will be.
agree with moderator...green ought to throw his name in the hat, play at the camps and pre-draft deals and see where he stands...

One thing I'll add this discussion and after that, I'm not speaking on it until after the season is over--because we've got far too much to look forward to and enjoy--is the factor of being at GU with the fellas he came in with--this is an EXTREMELY CLOSE GROUP and special to the program in many facets. I just can't see Jon, Tyler, Roy, Jeff, and also Patrick not leaving together. It just is such a special group, I honestly hope to get to enjoy them for another season after this one, but I don't disparage anyone from doing what is best for themselves and their families. However, I just appreciate what these kids have done for the program and how they are going to be remembered forever in GU history for something that non-Hoya fans can't understand. Seeing them enter/depart together would be so fitting and be one of the coolest SR Days of all time in Hoya History-up there with all of the greats.
Now back to business and worry about the future, after business is taken care of!

RDF: yes.
When I first saw the title of this thread, my only though had to do this season. I was worried that something was wrong with Jeff!
Now that I know what this thread is about, I'm not worried. Our next game is against Syracuse. Jeff isn't leaving before then.
