this should probably should just be a msg to SFHoya99 - but I'm saying not that you can't disagree but rather you wrongly dismiss the posters of such outcoaching talk as being newbies who aren't worthy of such talk. well, sorry, sire. (if you read the outcoaching threads, you'll see the tone). the Camp's responses are generally geared towards or secondly noting that the poster is unworthy in some sense of such a thought. i don't doubt your knowledge of the hoyas etc. and college basketball, but you (not just SF)do. just the facts. there have been games where if adjustments had been made, things would have come out differently in our opinion. but it has reached the point (and even it happened just once) where it could reasonably be debated that inadequacies exist in game coaching. Not suggesting replacement. i mean, otherwise, why have the board? last thing, if you argue that if one can't stand disagreement - don't post; can you not stand my disagreement? but then you posted. I've never told someone not to post. I'm posting my opinion. If I couldn't stand disagreement, I wouldn't read the board, or I'd use ad hominem attacks to drive you off or ask the admins to ban you or something equally ridiculous. As for "tone," that's a major issue with email and written communication, especially quickly written communication. I'm sorry if my tone intimidated you or anything; it is simply how I write. I'm not going to spend even more time on this board so that people aren't offended. I spend enough as it is. As for the actual topic of the post, I disagree with the doom and gloom of the original post. Like many others, I thought III got outcoached in the Nova game. But I didn't agree with the extension of the thought -- too much weight was placed on Nova and not enough on the previous two and half years.

Game coaching is not the issue, it's recruiting. In every game we lost and even in some of our wins, our guards do not display the quickness that is prevelant with guards on top teams. They may be able to shoot and they do look for cutters, but they are not able to take their man off the dribble, penetrate and either go to the basket or dish for easy scores. Talk about an oversimplification. In every game they've lost - and even some of their wins - either Green or Hibbert or BOTH have failed to even show up at the gym (I'd still like someone to confirm Roy actually PLAYED against 'Nova, same with Green against ODU, both against Oregon). These two are SUPPOSED Wooden Award finalists, and both have played well below those expectations thus far... more like second-team Big East if they're lucky. The guards have sucked at times, the bigs have sucked at times. This team has proven ONE THING this season - they are wildly inconsistent, with NOBODY on the roster who's shown the ability or willingness to step up and take charge and be the leader these boys clearly need. Simply put, they're just NOT THAT GOOD A TEAM right now. They've earned their so-so record and each of their losses. As good as some of you may think they should be, the fact of the matter is they are no more than an "others receiving votes" squad right now. That said, I think there is a LOT of talent on the roster and IMMENSE potential for improvement. A nice run in March isn't out of the question, but they'll be lucky to even MAKE the dance unless they start playing with some tenacity and urgency. If the season ended today, the tourney committee would look at their record and realize their "signature" win was against... Notre Dame?!? Thank god the season's only half over. Time to go to work.

They can't score unless you can get them the ball in scoring position. I do agree with you in that they do not always work hard for position., and that is coaching
