Just rewinded it. Gray was not over the back on that one.
Ewing Jr. might deserve a starting spot IMO. It would be nice to get Summers' firepower off the bench.

We haven't played poorly with the exception of some defensive letdowns. I HATE to sound like this but I feel like the refs had a big effect on this game. The elbow from gray into pat's face after which gray was at the line? Numerous occasions I have been screaming at the officials. We are better than Pitt. They played the best basketball they'll play all year and we hung with them. We WILL beat them next time.

This reminds me of our game at UConn last year. We played terrific and just ran into an offensive buzzsaw. S*cks.

great, we hung with them--it doesn't mean much until our team shows a modicum of consistency. Sure, we have the potential to beat most teams, but that potential is (thus far) only realized in small, sporadic spurts....

Guys showed some heart. Hung with a legit top-10 team, lost in the end. I can deal with this loss (in comparison to the 'Nova loss). Now will we continue to grow after a tough loss that puts us 1-2 in the BE and rip through the next five (relatively) easier games...or do we backpedal.
Keep stepping it up, guys.

Despite the loss, I feel like we played an overall good game. Just need to limit the TOs and get some stops.

Uggh, not that bad of a loss but would have been nice to have this one.
Pitt is a good team, but not as good as they were tonight. We took their best shot on the road and only lost by a few buckets. My problem is the way we seem to play to our competition, we need to be more consistent.
Lot of games left to play, I can't wait to get them back at our place.
BTW, Dukie V did not mention Duke once tonight in the broadcast....or did he?

Both this and the nova game I felt we should have or at least had a good chance at winning. At the end of the nova game, I was disgusted at the effort by the team. But I don't feel that now.

Pitt's just a little better than us, especially at their home. We could have played tougher defense, but not a horrible showing. The problem is that we lost to ODU, Nova and Oregon at home after leading each of those games at the half. This loss doesn't hurt us but we now have almost no room for error the rest of the season. If we lose another 4 or 5 games, it's NIT for sure. Go Hoyas.

he mentioned duke about 3-4x. talked about the recent duke loss, how mcroberts might be the best big man passer in the nation... and a couple more. the way he says the word "duke" just annoys me. he sounds like a star-struck valley girl or something.
as for our game, i thought we played ok except for our perimeter defense which we knew is a liability. some bad calls throughout the game... mostly went pitts way. also WHERE WAS CRAWFORD?? im tired of him playing <10min per game. the kid deserves 20+. he scored on 3 backdoors and played good perimeter defense while he was in there. summers looked lost today... too much jawing at cook which really did a lot of good (17 points i think). ewing and crawford needed to share the 3 spot and crawford should have played a little guard to spell sapp/wallace instead of rivers.

It will be interesting to see the minutes played. Hibbert out and we started to flow in my estimation. Green gets more involved instead of sitting in the corner. We need Roy to win, but I thought JT did a good job realizing that he is NOT a Shot blocker. How many inside shots did they have against a 7footer. Roy has to block some shots.
Kudos to PE & Sapp.... Dujuan was a bit out of it.... could be the arena...

Pitt is a better team than I expected. They move the ball great and have a bunch of guys who can score. I think they can be beat, but I don't see it happening at home, where their rcord is phenomenal.
Great coming out party for PEJr.. Nice game by Sapp. Jeff looked great in the beginning and at the end.
I hate a loss, but I am nowhere near as upset as I was after the 'Nova game.** My complaints are the usual - TOs, FT shooting and maybe JTIIIs late-game management (to a lesser degree).
** I keep coming back to that damn Nova loss. Puts a lot of pressure on us now that we are 1-2 in the BE. This team cannot have any let up now. I don't think they will.

Ewing deserves more PT. Rivers is simply not ready. Pitt is the better team...mainly because their guards are light years ahead of ours. It may be a long, long season.
Preseason we were clearly overrated... that goes for the team, the frontcourt, and the coaching.

I could see that reaction after any of our earlier losses, but after this loss? If the Hoyas play the way they did today for the rest of the season, I don't think they will be losing too many games. Of course, that's a big "if."

Good game tonight--nice effort from the kids.
A common theme in all of the games I've seen is this team tends to play better overall without Roy--don't know why, seems like it when I watch and it's a no brainer we're a better defensive team without Roy--he's just not a good rebounder or defensive player. It's going to be tough on III because Roy is a talented kid and a weapon with his size, but I've seen this team function better offensively with him on bench and there is more room to cut/spread court and use entire offense. When you don't have a great shooting team--you need to create room to penetrate and give as many open looks as you can--and it allows Jeff Green to be a threat with drive and not just a passer/perimeter shooter. It's why this style of system doesn't function well with a traditional center. Last year it was easier due to Owens and Cook's outside shooting ability and it'll be easier for Roy next year as well-with Wright and Freeman being the outside threats you can't leave open.
Only thing I'd wish we'd have tried tonight was a little pressure in backcourt--but other then that, good game and anxious to see how we adjust as season continues to make Roy more of a factor or if we have to limit his minutes a bit more to make team stronger? It's not a knock on Roy--it's just how this particular team seems to function better--or at least in the games I've watched. More consistent on both ends when he's off the court.
