Hey - new guy to the board here. Very exciting week in HoyaLand! Looking forward to the season.
Needing some help - I'm in town and very close to campus tomorrow, and am looking for the best place to shop for gear and Hoya merchandise. Been difficult to find stuff where I live. I'm not at all familiar with the D.C. area. Any ideas?

J Wally had on a cotton/fleece sweatsuit when he was home two weeks ago. It had GEORGETOWN across the front with the Jordan brand on the lapel. It was gray. I just purchased a sweatsuit off of Eastbay that has the "G" on the pant leg and "G-town" on the right lapel and the Jordan brand on the left lapel. It is sweet, but I want the one J Wally had on when he came home. Is it at Leavey or online?

The navy version of Wallace's sweatshirt was available only through FinishLine.com last season. I have not seen it on any of the sites recently. This year's practice sweatshirt (that was last years) is available at the bookstore now. It is somewhat similar.

As of now, the selection of merchandise in the bookstoor is rather subpar. I went there the other day looking for a simple Georgetown hoodie and wasn't able to find anything good at all.

Typical. The school has never been good at branding.
(Insert my monthly complaint that the athletic department ignores the free help it could get from its top 25 MBA school and top 15 undergrad business school here)

Am I the only one who hates the jordan brand logo on the front of the shirt? I understand its just Nike's basketball brand, but having the jordan "flyboy" logo right beneath "hoya saxa" on the practice jersey is ridiculous. he's a frickin' tarheel, after all.

It is probably the best clothing investment I've ever made bar none. III was wearing the gray version during the "Real Sports" piece on him/the program last season... and I'm still waiting for it to go on sale (along with the gray game shorts and jerseys).

Well to play Devil's Advocate, it's about selling items and making money for the University and this stuff will sell--in Twin Cities Jordan Brand GU Gear was sold out when I went to get sweatshirt last Spring--and had to wait--they are stocked now and when the GU Jordan Sweatshirt/Sweats come out, I'm buying them up--it's about GU and kids love Jordan Brand and it's cool and sells-which helps GU--so keep it coming!

Not to nitpick, but I believe there is a difference between the Yates online shop and the GUHoyas online shop. I believe the CSTV people (who run GUHoyas.com) run the GUHoyas shop (which has a lot of generic stuff with no Nike, etc.), while Yates runs their online shop. Yates' online shop has been down for "renovations."

Nitpicking is fine. ;D I meant to indicate that the online store was another venue, not necessarily that it was Yates' online store, but I wasn't precise enough in my post.

Now available at the Yates Pro Shop: Roy Hibbert Jerseys (navy and black) They had between 10-15 boxes of new merchandise today. A woman, who I assume is some sort of manager, told me that they were all Nike. Looked like a LOT of boxes of jerseys and shorts. A new shirt or two, but I didn't get a chance to really examine them. Also the practice sweatshirt. All will be out on display for sale as of tomorrow.

Do they say Hibbert on them or do they just say 55 so they can double as dikembe jerseys Haven't seen them, but I'm fairly sure it is not legal for them to print Hibbert's name on the jersey while he is still in school, so my money says that they read just '55'.

It just says 55. It is against NCAA rules for the Nike/adidas/Reebok/etc jerseys to have the players' names on them. There is some loophole, because I know that Kansas used to sell off-brand (not-Nike) jerseys with player names on the back.
