The Sports Illustrated article on the NBA draft has a sidebar on bargains later in the draft. It lists the "five leading candidates to make some GM looks like a genius": Steven Smith, Ronaldo Balkman, Will Blalock, David Noel and, at the top of the list, Brandon Bowman.
"Very athletic big man will create plenty of mismatches with his ability to handle, rebound and score"

2 weeks ago I was not confident that he'd be drafted. Now I'm sure he will be.

BB has a more pro style game........He's a 1 on 1 type player and he will do good in the league. Or at least I say, get a good check!!!

I'm not sure anyone ever doubted BB had the raw ability to play in the league, its just a question of him putting it together on a consistent basis

Well said, EP. I think that's what made it all the more maddening for us when during those games he didn't play well in a GU uniform. I think deep down inside, we all knew he had the POTENTIAL to make it to the next level. We just were never sure if we were ever going to see that happen.
It just might now. And I hope it does.

Ya know...
... they let a lot of walking to in the NBA. If Brandon can add an exrta step into the ThrowDribble he might just have the most unstoppable move in the history of basketball.
(That's presuming, or course, that he figures out a way to finish.)

After watching Josh Howard in this year's NBA playoffs, some team is going to see Brandon and hope that he can become the same type of player.

Good news for Brandon.
Buff, you know they allow that extra step in the NBA, so we might be seeing greatness in the making (like you said, if he learns to finish).

With a little bulk and the right system, Brandon may prove to be a 7-8 year NBA guy after all.

If the throw dribble catches on in the NBA I will be extremely happy.

Brandon actually played some very good defense throughout the year on opposing teams' shooting guards (Redick, Quinn, Douby, Florida guards) though we will of course all remember some of the dumber plays he made. In fact, the times when JTIII put Bowman or Owens on smaller guards were some very good coaching decisions. NBA people might in fact see him as an athletic 6'9" defender with some decent offensive skills that could improve over time - and the NBA likes Georgetown players.

I'm not sure giving up 41 to Redick is "good defense" but your point is well taken...he's long and relatively quick for a 6'9" player and with the the talk about wingspan, length and upside, you have to think someone will take a no risk flier on BB and take him in the 2nd round. I think he would actually be a good fit with the Nets...taking passes from Kidd and learning the ropes from RJ. Other teams he would do well with are Phoenix and Dallas...somewhere he can sit and learn and gte some minutes here and there.

when you find a guy whose 6'9and can guard shootingguards very welll, theres always room in the NBA for a person like him

If the throw dribble catches on in the NBA I will be extremely happy. Very good to distinguish there, StPete. On the one hand, we're all hoping the "throw dribble" catches on in the NBA. On the other, the "Throw Dribble" has been used by NBA players on their groupies in clubs and at parties for years...

I think I saw a Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel about this - the bad Gumbel got so into the story he took his glasses off while asking questions directly into the camera.
