Saw this in today's Sports Guy NBA Playoff preview and I couldn't help but note the relevance.
"You know those college cities where the townies detest the rich kids from campus, or a multi-college city where the kids from the lesser-respected college openly loathe the kids from the well-respected college a few miles away? That's how the Clippers fans feel about the Lakers fans. Pure hatred."
YUP, there it is in a nutshell

Durham, and about 9,000 other college towns.
"or a multi-college city where the kids from the lesser-respected college openly loathe the kids from the well-respected college a few miles away?"
GU and GW, or I assume, Harvard and most of the other Boston colleges, and I'm sure quite a few more.

It's educated, well-thought out comments like this that really make this board a special place.

I for one was surprised when we found out about Jessie's little secret. And to think, she had such a bright future that she threw away by becoming a showgirl.

Why do people rag on Simmons - he's funny and has an awesome job -- i guess the awesome job part turns people a little green.

Why do people rag on Simmons - he's funny and has an awesome job -- i guess the awesome job part turns people a little green. Simmons was a writer for Jimmy Kimmell. If that's not an indictment of how little talent he really has, I don't know what is. And so he's got an "awesome" job... plenty of people do. Are we forbidden from trashing them, too? Maybe you're right... ... ATTENTION HOYATALK POSTERS: from now on, as per DonkDonk's moronic instructions, there will be no more bashing of Dick Vitale or any other horrible announcer. They have "awesome jobs," and thus don't deserve our ridicule. The fact is, Simmons' act got stale two years ago at least. I think we've heard enough of him crying with his dad over Celtics games in the 80's, his late night fantasy trades with "Murph" and "Sully" or any of his other M Edited friends, or his stupid theories he claims as his own (most of which are completely lifted). I'd rather read baselinejournal.com.

I wouldn't read Simmons either if he was providing nearly daily reminders of my favorite baseball team's participation in the biggest choke in American professional sports history.
