The media can either be your friend or enemy. The way Georgetown has treated members of the media (including some alums) is inexcusable. The media must be looked at as a resource for recruits, students, fundraising and fans.
My great hope is that JTIII takes the tape of the doors of McDonough and welcomes the media in at appropriate times. Our program needs all the outside supporters it can gather.

This year at the Duke game Hoya Blue had made a big banner for the student section which read "The Bone Yard" (they also got a bunch of foam dog bones to give to the students)
Anyway, something like
"Welcome to the Bone Yard"
might be good for t-shirts

Apparently the students didn't like "the Boneyard". Looking for something more creative....

Exactly. I think we'd be better off with something DC-related, Hoya-related, etc....
What do y'all think of my suggestions above?

How about "Hoya Saxa" on the front of the t-shirts?
Maybe the shirts could be grey on the front, blue on the back. Then, you could have the kids turn them backwards to create blue v grey sections. Or would that create too much civil war symbolism?

How about: I wiped my ass with my Syracuse acceptance letter! Was that you in that walked into Fado three years ago with that on a sandwich board, right before D. Hunter and Ruben pimp-slapped them? That was gold!

What about "WE ARE" on the front and "Georgetown" on the back. Naming the student section, "Jack's Pack"; get money from the the Tombs and call 'em the "Tombs Stones"; get money from Wisey's and call 'em the "Bums"; what about "37th and O Yeah!" for something? No, that sucks. In the vein of logo knock off t-shirts, my roommates and I always wanted to make Mr. Jack's Saxa Wax to play on Mr. Zogg's Sex Wax. I think those woulda sold well and been much cooler than those crappy Corona, Bud, and Rolling Rock faux tees that are around now. Those aren't even good beers!

Another Question: If we want to rename the student section at MCI, what's the best name to try for? We want to look into getting t-shirts printed up that say "WE ARE GEORGETOWN" on the back and on the front.... "Hoya Destroyas" "III Pointers" "Proud to be Hoyas" "Capitol City Choir" "Hoyas Unleashed" "WE Rock" "The Yell That Wins the Day" Other thoughts? ___________________________ How about "The 'Hood"? That should encourage rowdiness

i think a good design would be "we are georgetown" on the front in big letters and then "What rocks? WE rock" on the back. however, it might just be better to have a big G on the back. we don't want this to be corny. most schools' student sections don't have much text on their shirts, just a design. "we are georgetown" has gotta be there tho. how awesome would it be for thompson to see his favorite chant on the shirts of rows upon rows of student fans jumping and screaming for the hoyas!

I like that idea. I think it should be either a blue or gray shirt (no more white shirts like the past couple years) with gray or blue lettering. On the front it should say "WE ARE GEORGETOWN" in big letters and on the back there should be a big G logo or Jack the Bulldog logo, that would be sweet! Not too complicated but a really great design. Also, can we please not order only XL's like every shirt they give out at MCI, those things are practically dresses and no one wants to wear them. We need an assortment of sizes and a minimal amount of XL's.

Most college kids wear L or larger, so I think "dresses" is a bit of an exaggeration. Instead of blanketing the seats with a shirt that is too large for some, too small for others, and only fits a few of the fans, have a pre-game T-shirt distribution either the night before or at the buses before the game. Have sizes from small through septuple-XL (for those who want to fit 4 Hoyas in one shirt...give it to them, and some will try, I guarantee). That way, the ladies who like to cut them down into...well whatever they turn them into can do that, and others can wear them like regular shirts. And give them out to people in the first 10 rows all around the arena as well. I looked behind the Florida bench during a game this season and saw an elderly fellow wearing the same shirt as the students. Pretty cool.
My friend and I discussed "Jack's House" or something like that as a name for the section, and I suppose the shirts could say something about Jack (the bulldog, not the President).
I honestly don't think we should worry about naming our student section until we get an on-campus arena, however. It just wouldn't be the same as alot of the other sections around the country (which is what we should be, if we aren't already, shooting for).

good point, joe hoya. naming the student section seems kinda dumb in mci, although i like "jack's house." i think the shirts would be a good start tho. everyone wearing the same shirt creates a sense of camaraderie, which wasn't often felt during my experiences in the student section this year. plus it looks more intimidating to the opponent, and at the cavernous mci center, we need all the help we can get.
these shirts should be FREE with season tix, so everyone will have and wear them, and navy blue would be my vote, a la the "I bleed hoya blue" shirts. on a side note, wonder if those will go out of existence with the onset of these new shirts.
and yes, guhoya2007, no more XL's!!! i caught 2 shirts during games this season, but i never wear them b/c they're too damn big. and i'm not THAT small, i'm 5'11". still wear them as mumu's to bed sometimes tho.
GO HOYAS!!!

It was suggested to me by a fan that the shirts say "We are Georgetown" on the front and "Again." on the back (maybe with a logo or picture of Jack). This might be too presumptuous, but the message is clear.

I think all of this talk of t-shirts and rallies is so great and I really hope that these organizers follow through on it!!! I also want to point out that I really like that the ideas are clean and free of profanity - let's keep it this way. GU's reputation is very important!

I really like "WE ARE GEORGETOWN......" on the front, with "....AGAIN" and a bulldog logo on the back.
I was also thinking giving out 2 sets of shirts, one in blue with grey lettering, one in grey with blue lettering. If the students can sit on both ends of the court again, then one side can be blue shirted and the other grey shirted.
Wow, this is cool stuff, isn't it?

YB, I love that idea!!!! Can I be a student again. I would love a t-shirt like that. Unfortunately, think I would stick out like a sore thumb since my kids are now college aged but I can still dream of sitting back in that student section
