I don't know man, the other teams I just can't get with.
George Mason? Its a feel good story and everything. Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I'm tired of hearing about them. I'm tired of their coach acting like he can predict the future and he invented the internet after everygame. I'm tired about hearing about the stories of them playing baseball during the week and eating at Outback before games. I'm sick of hearing it. I hope Florida beats them so we can stop this madness.
Oh yeah, speaking of Florida. I don't like them either or their overrated head coach, Eddie Munster. They got Eddie Munster for a coach, and a 6'11'' Brooke Shields for a center. I'm glad Brooke Shields didn't come to Georgetown. He doesn't fit the mold of a Georgetown center. Georgetown centers are not divas, nor do they get their hair done at a salon.
LSU, I got nothing against them, but for some reason, I don't like them. Don't know what it is, but I just don't like them. That Washington Post article about their "study habits" didn't make me a fan of their program either.
UCLA, I'm pulling for. I think Howland is a great coach. I knew when he went to UCLA he would make them a contender, but I didn't think it would be this quick. I had them as a sleeper team of winning it all, and I think they can do it.

That Washington Post article about their "study habits" didn't make me a fan of their program either. You and me both. It looked as if those guys didn't even know what a classroom was. Not that hard to work on your game when you don't put much time into the books. Typical $EC.

That's exactly how I feel about the guy. I don't care how good he is, as a fan, I don't want some dude that wears dresses on the Hoyas. I'm pulling for Mason or UCLA. I just don't want to see the $EC win it and try and pull some "we're the best football AND basketball conference" bs.

The SEC is completely morally bankrupt. I can't cheer for them.
George Mason is nice but I cannot make a plausible argument for them being the best team in the country. They won their last two games at home essentially and as much as I like them, there is this odd element here where they only marginally deserved to be in the tourney and then somehow got home games the second week including one versus a mid-major they already beat.
So UCLA it is. It's a good program, a good school, and the only team on the West Coast worth mentioning this year. I'm glad they beat the overrated Zags too.

I tend to take these things personally.
Clearly, I can't root for Florida. I still haven't forgiven Dale Brown, Chris Jackson & LSU for beating us in the Superdome. UCLA? Their win over us at MCI a few years ago and the crowd reaction may have marked the lowest point in my time as a Hoya fan (true, in retrospect, maybe we should thank them for this, but I'm not one to be magnanimous).
That leaves GMU. It's really hard not to root for these guys. Yes, there is a slight worry that their success could adversely impact our recruiting, but I don't think it's a serious risk. They're still in the CAA, they'll still never be on TV more than once or twice a season, so I don't see much of a threat there.
Plus, they're the Patriots. Who can't get behind that?
But, in the end, the Hoyas aren't there, so the final answer is, "I don't really care."
On another note, what are the chances another conference might try to poach Mason after this success? I'm thinking they might be looking really, really good to conferences like the A-10 or Conference USA...
(I don't know how those things work, so that idea might be impossible on it's face; if not though, I wouldn't be surprised to hear some rumblin's)

I'll root for UCLA over LSU and UF, but there's no way I'm rooting for them ove Mason if they get that far. What an incredible run! And their coach is a class act, who risked any type of run by suspending a starter.

I'm shocked that some people here aren't rooting for Mason. Clearly, they weren't at the Phone Booth yesterday, because it was impossible not to get caught up in that atmosphere. This is a school that few people outside the Beltway had ever even heard of, a team that no one expected anything from, playing on the biggest stage in the sports for the ultimate title. And, most importantly, they just kicked UConn's A$$. What is there to root against?

You have got to cheer for Mason. They are a senior laden team which is what the NCAA needs and they are local. The more experienced the players, the better the hoops are to watch. Go Mason!

You should root for George Mason. They are a great story. And I'm sure they won't be rubbing it in that they went farther than GU.
I guess I shouldn't be surprised at the vitriol at UF and the SEC. It hurts when your conference gets exposed. Take heart, though, Spring football starts soon.

Go Mason and UCLA.
I don't really like UCLA that much and think they're flawed, but I'm not a fan of LSU.
Listening to Thomas and Big Baby speak was one of the most unconfortable things I've ever seen. Inability to speak English doesn't even do it justice. It's truly sad that these kids can't form a sentence.
Plus throw in the swearing on national tv and it's just terrible.

It hurts when your conference gets exposed. Take heart, though, Spring football starts soon. Spare us. Long before Florida beat Gtown many of us could not stand the $EC because of its well earned reputation as the most corrupt conference in the nation. It should be called the Probation Conference in fact. And of all the power conferences it has the worst collection of schools, academically speaking. That's not hating on the $EC, son. Those are just the facts. I sometmes wonder if the people running Vanderbilt ask themselves what the heck they are doing in that conference. Good luck to your team. I think the Gators can win it all and I won't be upset if they do. That's a great collection of players and a damn good coach. However in the meantime try to regain what little life you have and get off our board already. The Gators-Hoyas game is over and its way past time that you moved on.

The fact that they are local is the one reason I wouldn't root for Mason, but I like everything else about them.
As for Skinn, well, seeing as how me and my classmates had pretty much a non-stop, 4-year-long tournament of "Take A Bow" going while we were in college, I don't think I'm going to cast any stones on that particular issue. (though I may cast a tennis ball or two).

I wish that George Mason was not playing Florida in the semis, as I would like to see them both in the finals. I would prefer that Gtown loses to the eventual champion. If only Owens had made some threes or Brandon could finish a finger roll.
I like GM as a team. They have skills inside and out. I like their coach and have grown to admire Lewis and Butler. Plus, how can you not root for the big underdog who the self-annointed scribes and casters trashed before the tourney even started?
Any trashing of the SEC at this point when there are no Big East, Big 10, or ACC teams left in the tourney comes across as sour grapes. It wasn't that long ago when I grimaced at Reggie Williams' interview after a tournament game.

Can there be another choice BUT Mason?
UCLA has enough banners, and the SEC schools have football.

I am obviously rooting for UCLA, since that's my second favorite team (and favorite from prior to my GU years). But if it weren't for that, I would have to root for GMU.

What is of much more concern to me, rather than who actually wins this tournament, is how many highlights the Hoyas get in the One Shining Moment video.
Me, I'm betting on three (with an outside chance at 4).
1. Bobo's fast-break dunk against Northern Iowa. 2. Roy's drive to the basket against OSU. 3. Roy's spin move against Florida. 4. (possible) Roy walking off the court against OSU with one finger raised. That was Patrick-esque.
Too bad DJ's game-winning three with time running out in the Sweet 16 couldn't be one of them.
