So its been so long since I've posted to the board that I actually had to reactivate my account (I'm guessing at least 5 years), but hoytables questioned why someone would drive to Dayton for a game, but not post on the board. So, I guess I'm a long time reader, first time poster.
RockawayHoya, great recap! It was like reliving the whole weekend. All I can say is, having grown up in Ohio, I've been waiting for a Gtown/OSU matchup my entire life, and from the perspective of the Hoyas, it certainly did not dissapoint. For those of you who weren't able to make it to Dayton, it is hard to describe just how it is that 80 students can out-shout 9,000 Buckeyes, but it was certainly a sight to behold (and the alumni weren't too shabby either). Hoya Blue, the Pep Band, the Cheerleaders, all did the University proud.

All right, I finally finished reading all four days of the recap, Rockaway, and let me just say that it was worth every word. Thank you. I think the Dayton experience was kind of like the Duke game, in that everyone has their own separate memorable experience. Mine was pretty similar to Rockaway's, although Hoya Blue stayed in a different hotel, and two other specific exceptions: (1) The Hoya Blue hotel golf party on Saturday night, put together by the "Godfather of the Golf Party," hoyabinx. (2) The Pre-Game Tailgate on Sunday with some Hoya alumni, some Mason fans, and one particular Cincinnati fan, who got outchugged by a GIRL from Georgetown. Let me just say that the hotel golf party inevitably turned into a show, and the downfall of all things rational was the final hole with barber shop shots. Needless to say everybody (about 20) in that room got completely hammered, and for the second night in a row I literally got dragged out of my room to go to the Trolley Stop bar in the Oregon district, where I had trouble staying awake. Hey, drinking all day and night takes a lot out of you. But I remember far more vividly on Sunday a tailgate with recent Georgetown graduates and some Georgetown students from the bus. We were a group of 15-20 around 1pm, and a nearby Cincinnati (?) fan came over and challenged someone to chug a beer against him. We look around and see if someone wants to do it, but all of us are pretty hungover, and I know for a fact that I am not a very good chugger. But among us, a girl steps up, Kate, and says that she'll take him on. Now let me put into perspective: this is about a 45 to 50-year old dude who might have weighed twice as much as this 22-year old college girl. But nonetheless, Kate goes strong, and unbelievably, she wins the chugging contest. Needless to say, the guy was shocked, and asked for video confirmation, which we had. His friends gave him some crap, he shook Kate's hand, and they exchanged e-mail addresses, to send the video, I guess. All I can say is that Kate did Georgetown proud in that Dayton parking lot on Sunday. ;D All in all, a great weekend, I didn't think Dayton was so bad, but that's probably because all I needed that weekend was a bar or hotel room with college basketball on. But let's not get too sappy and sentimental... the Hoyas have a big game on Friday to get into the Elite 8, and I see no reason why the dancing and good times can't continue. Hoya Saxa. EDIT: By the way, here's the pic of Kate chugging the beer against the Cincinnati dude: pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/mkam25/detail?.dir=98a1&.dnm=317dscd.jpg&.src=ph

I wish I hadn't missed those two. If there hadn't been plans already on Saturday night (and someone was willing to drive all the way back to North Dayton), I definitely would have been back for the golf party. And as for the "tailgating" episode, I think I just missed that by a half hour or so, as I was stuck in traffic coming to the arena from Wendy's. Too bad Cinci doesn't know how we do. You're completely right about not dwelling on our successes of last weekend, though. Friday is a winnable game (albeit against a tough opponent). Refer to Brandon's quote in my signature below. Only 53 more hours till game time... *sigh*
