Let's hope his fellow seniors buy in too. AC has the right mentality, and that's been the case for most of the season.

I stand by my comments. The UNI fans on that have commented on this board have not once been impolite and have focused on the play of the teams only to face personal insults. If you don't welcome the interjection of discussion from fans from other schools you should amend your rules to just advise fans from other schools that they aren't welcome here. The personal comments are unnecessary and simply make your fan base look like jerks. I'd wager you guys have a lot of fans that aren't alums because all the G-town alums I've met haven't been afraid of a friendly and polite debate. My last visit to your board here. Like I said Hibbert is a force and will be fun to watch progress. Good win for the Hoyas and best of luck the rest of the way. I'll leave you to your insult fest and high fives.

I am psyched about today's win but surprised that we didn't realize that the ONLY way a team like UNI is going to beat us was via the 3 a little more quickly. We did get sort of lucky because they had plenty of open shots. (I know they weren't that great of a shooting team anyways but I believe we should defend the 3 better against a team like that)
A little disappointed in what I see is a regression from our decisiveness on offense that we showed during the BET. Other than the times when we dropped it down to Roy, we looked confused. UNI was not going to allow a high-low game (their defenders were all over our guys at the foul line) and we didn't adjust very well. We were far too stationary when Roy had the ball in the post - Roy is a good enough passer to make back door passes/passes off screens and we can't just stand around and give him no options except for a dumpback to beyond the 3 point line. What a job by Cook and Bowman to step it up when our lead was starting to slip away. Love the fire from JG and Roy - overall, I am encouraged that our team has a lot of heart but we need to show a little more fluidity on offense just like the 1st half of the Syracuse game. So excited we won - now I can go out tonight and not sit at home and be depressed.
(By the way, how big was our last two pointer (i think from Cook) gave us the cover and the over)

Green sure looked like a jerk today. So that's what they call polite debate at your community college ? Not surprised, and good riddance.

DanMcQ beat me to the punch on the quote. I'll post it again and offer my thoughts:
"The first game, I think we got the jitters out," said Ashanti Cook, who had two free throws and a clinching dunk in the closing seconds. "Now it's time to play basketball. We're not here to participate, we're here to win the whole thing."
This is EXACTLY what you want to hear from a senior. This Georgetown team could be starting something awesome in this tournament.

Posters from other schools are welcome but it seems that some members don't agree, which is unfortunate. Not every visiting poster is from Syracuse or GW, and Pantherswin's opinions are no more or less valid because he is a visitor.

Who said they aren't welcome? My problem is with this we have to eat their crap attitude. This guy came over and gave his two cents--he then got a verbal beatdown AFTER he started the insults and yet his "observations" were meant to be seen with
"Gosh, you are right Jeff is a jerk, he sucks, etc...."
Sorry--but he was going to take some crap, he did, and now he's going to "leave". Well odds are he wasn't coming back anyways, and if you are going to start something, you better be a little less sensitive to reponses. I didn't go over to UNI's site and start trouble--I stay on HoyaTalk and if I did and posted what he did, I'd expect to take ribbing/crap.

agree Admin - panthersfan was not antagonistic - his comments could fairly be said to be observations of any college bb fan.
we need to enjoy this win and continue to welcome outside posters who are fans of other programs...one of the cool things about this board is seeing how the rest of the country views us.

Watched most of the game and it seemed like the norm for us as far as games go. We had one poor half, where our defense was not playing that great and we were off on offense as well. Towards the end of the 1st half we started to pull things together and then in the second half we finally looked like we knew what we were doing. Our defensive intensity got cranked up quite a bit in the 2nd half and that was a big key. On offense, we continued to do the right thing by feeding Roy. Other guys stepped up at times when we REALLY needed someone, but certainly not on a consistent basis. Other random observations-
1. Sapp was great today.....I still say I enjoy him more each game. I still cringe when he shoots those 3's (although he did have one nice one), but his level of aggression at both ends and his propensity to make some big plays (rebounds, steals, the pass at the end, etc.) seems to improve each game. If he gets that outside shot down.......we've got a very special player.
2. Speaking of outside shots, we realy need Jeff to work on his this summer as well. His 3's have been WAY off lately and he has been having trouble with the mid-range jumper as well.
3. To Pantherswin- clearly you don't watch a lot of college basketball (not sure if OSU has a big man??), but to judge a team by one game is a big mistake. We have won a number of tough games (including Duke) where Roy has done very little. Today he was what was working so we went to him. Another day, we may have our outside shot falling and we win by 12 that way. As far as Jeff Green goes, that is just about the most emotion and anger I have ever seen him show on the floor in a game. That just goes to show what a cheap-shot artist Stout was the whole game. Now if I were to make judgments about him based on this one game, I would say he was a dirty player.....but I will allow for the possibility that he was just overwhelmed and there was nothing else he could do. Finally, your prediction of OSU winning is not that bold......as has been stated, they are the 2 seed and we are the 7. However, to say they blow us out is a little off base. If you check our entire schedule, you will not see a blowout anywhere (at least with us losing). The most lopsided score against us was the game with Villanova, where we were within 3-5 with about 3 minutes to play. It is fine to want to come to another teams site to have some "friendly debate", but you need to know something about the topic before you debate it.
4. Overall, this was a good game for the team. A tough win against a dangerous team in our first trip back to the tourney in years. As Ashanti said in his quote above, they needed this game to get out the nerves......now it is about playing some real basketball. We need Roy to build off this game and the seniors to catch Ashanti's attitude and Jessie's level of intensity to rub off on everyone and (this is a lot of 'ands') Jeff to stay angry. I think this team still has some more ball to play......if by some chance we go out next round, this is still a nice step on our way up. However, I really think we will be playing next week.

I think Esherick should get the mike and defend Roy and Jeff from the uncalled fouls. He's really good at it.

Did anyone else think those last two fouls on Roy were ridiculous? I mean on his 4th "foul" his elbows never even touched the leprechaun's head. This is proven by the fact that it is still attached to his shoulders. And I didn't see any contact on the fifth "foul" either.

(starting to sober up...)
Great grind out game by the Hoyas. JG may not have looked impressive to those outside Hoya knowledge but he did his usual intangibles to help this team. Roy was impressive, we need to get this man the ball as much as possible, I like the fire in him right now. Sapp played a decent game, but I still like seeing Wallace run the show. Next up, the OSU... just win baby@@@@#R$#$#$%# !!!!

Particularly since it was not too long after the no-call when Stoudt scissor-kicked Green to knock him to the floor. I only hope some NCAA official was watching and issues at the very least a warning to that young man. Getting physical inside is one thing, but he could have really hurt Jeff with that move.

I listened to the radio broadcast. I found JT2 to be remarkably objective given the situation. I thought the network would deliberately NOT have JT2 cover JTIII, especially with conflict of interest concerns. Still, he did fine.
