Nice win. Like the way we closed out the game. Peavy is a work in progress. We just need to get better. No alarming issues, that I saw.

Non-game observations: Announced crowd nowhere near > 3000; Pep Band played more this game than in last few home games; and DC Holiday Market on F Street between 7th and 9th is larger this year with more food options.
Happy Thanksgiving to all Hoyas!
(Although I've been offered tickets to the McDonough game, I will not be able to attend).

He’s our best player by far and actually looks like he isn’t lost at random times. Or do we just have different definitions of “work in progress”?

Not sure why Ed was throwing shade at Illinois? Even in jest, I don’t get it…

It is interesting the Curtis got a few minutes in the second half after Mulready chucked three 3 pointers in the 1st half.
Mulready is now 0-5 on the season from deep.

That scrambling defensive intensity that they played with for the last 5-7 minutes is something I have not see for many years at G.U. Lets hope Cooley can coax a full game out of them, he will surely need a full rotation to do so. On the other hand- St Francis had two 10-0 runs on us. St. Francis! Those 10-0 St Francis runs will be 20-0 UCONN or Marquette runs in the BE, game over

Peavy is undoubtedly 1 of our 2 best players, Sorber in my opinion is our best player but Peavy is a Stud, and I believe he has a good opportunity to be a pro next year.

It’s very alarming that we were in a tight game at home against the #340 team on Kenpom, one of the worst in all of D1. We are still so far away from being mediocre that it’s very concerning and frustrating. Not surprising but this looks like more of the same that we’ve seen from the team in recent years.

Stupid comment by Cooley. Have to wonder about this guy.

Apparently it stems from Underwood doing some shady stuff when he competed against Ed the first time he chose Illinois over PC?

My biggest takeaway from this game is that our starters are WAY better than the subs. Cooley seems to substitute a lot and there was a big dropoff whenever he did.

Cooley talked about a 6 player rotation in the 2nd half. We may see a lot of that group with sporadic showings of Julius, Mulready, and Caleb.

I think in building roughly half that — at tip, thought it would be even less than Wednesday, due to lack of local opponent fans, but late arriving [non]”crowd” rather boosted things. The Albany game next Saturday will be interesting, attendance wise🤦🏻♂️

If a Hoya fan claps but there is no one in the arena to hear him does it make any sound? 🤔

So much for leadership hiring someone who wouldn’t rock the boat and say out of pocket stuff lol. This is really a nothing burger but I find it so funny.

Nice win. Like the way we closed out the game. Peavy is a work in progress. We just need to get better. No alarming issues, that I saw. It’s very alarming that we were in a tight game at home against the #340 team on Kenpom, one of the worst in all of D1. We are still so far away from being mediocre that it’s very concerning and frustrating. Not surprising but this looks like more of the same that we’ve seen from the team in recent years. 1. We were favored to win this game by 17.5, according to the last spread I saw, and won by 17. Did not cover the spread, but did not collapse as many posters are suggesting. We won the game at very close to what was expected. 2. We played several good stretches of defense, and several bad stretches. For the last few years we did not play any good stretches, so this is a significant step forward. For about the last 7 minutes I believe we allowed one basket and they had 4 free throws. Their top scorer got hot in the first half and got them the lead. I believe he scored one basket in the second half. The trend line on defense is solidly in the right direction. 3. Epps was the MVP today. Peavy played a great game and may end up the MVP for the season over Sorber. But today Epps was the MVP. When St. Francis made their rons at the end of the first half and midway in the second half, Epps hit a 3 to take the wind out of their sails. He did that in the flow of the offense, not hogging the ball. For all five games he has taken the shots our offensive scheme gives him. And he has given us assists and rebounds. Many of the posters on this board have nothing good to say about Epps. And there was grudging acknowledgement for his defense today. He had four steals in the second half! Cooley correctly called his defense elite when the totally shut down StFrancis to close out the game. No buts, elite defense. And totally committed to playing in the scope of the offense paving us high percentage shots, assists, and rebounds. 4. there are relationships between players and coaches and between coaches. We don’t know the background of those relationships. Until you know that, you have no understanding on why Cooley made the comment he made. He immediately apologized. If your sole goal is to find ways to criticize Colley- go nuts. If Illinois is really Editeded off, they can show that the next time we play them. I am sick and tired of posters who only want to find fault. 5. We did what we were expected to do, we won the game by a wide margin. We can do a lot better. We will need to do a lot better to have a decent record in the Big East. I think we are on a good track, and I’d like it to be better. But I am tired of the posters whose only motivation is to find fault.
